3rd gen 4x4 orange dot on dash not staying lit

Hi guys,
When I hit the 4x4 button to go into 4hi it blinks a few times and then all 4green tires light up and stay solid but the Orange center Light doesn’t stay lit.
Is that correct when you’re in 4hi?
Should it just be the 4 green tires lit up without the Orange center dot lit up?

If you’re in 4Hi, you should have 4 solid green wheel indicators. The orange should only stay on when you have the center locker engaged.

How do you engage the center diff?
Using the dash button?
Isnt that the transfer case?

That is functioning as normal, pushing that button on the shifter puts you in all wheel drive (center diff unlocked). There is a button to the left of your steering column that will lock the center diff (turning on that orange light) and putting you into 4x4.

Something similar. 02 sr5. Did a rear axle to elocker swap in May. Just got the front re geared finally with a low mileage use front diff but I’m having trouble. The four green wheels to indicate 4wd are staying on but blinking as well as the orange indicator even when the button on the shifter isn’t pushed in. Do these systems run off vacuum? Thanks in advance!

That isn't a similar issue at all. The original poster has a truck that is working as intended.

Flashing 4WD lights indicate a problem. Either the actuator isn't able to complete its movement or the front diff isn't indicating it is engaged. The '01/'02 system is electric for the 2WD/4WDU/4WDL shifting and the front ADD actuator. Search on here for many other threads to help debug your issue.

Could be a number of things. I had this same problem on my 02. I eventually found that my front diff actuator was bad and needed to be replaced. It wasn't very hard to do and got my 4wd back up and running
