I'm tellin ya.....this forum does things to our brains.
I tell my girlfriend all the time....."It was not me, the forum made me do it"

EXACTLY! :pimp:

I think it's more that things we wouldn't bother with seem easy enough to tackle once we see that someone else has done it. Cars are slowly becoming less of a mystery to me and more of a fun hobby. Plus, can you ever imagine taking it to the shop and asking to get this done?

well if you guys decide to give into the power of TR4.org's posting, then post up some pic of before and after.

so did anyone ever get the urge to do this cleaning? just wondering how it went and just how bad the blower was, dirt wise.

Once the fan is out are the evaporator coils visible? The previous owner liked to park under trees and I'm guessing it's 1/4 plugged with debris. If I could get to it with a shop-vac...

I just did this, prior to seeing this explanation. It is easy to do. The one screw in the back is a little difficult. I got there with a 1/4" ratchet, with a 1/4" socket, with the torx bit in the socket. Not bad at all.

You do not have to take the glove compartment out. All work is done from the bottom. Also, he does not show disconnecting the electrical connection, which needs to be done.

Also, you can not get to the third screw without taking out the lower passenger kick panel on the right. To take that out you need to take out the door sill, four screws, and then the panel pulls out easily.

I think the thing it needs most is lube on an older vehicle in addition to the cleaning. That is not as easy to do.

If you decide to turn the fan on to watch it go round, or listen to it's smoothness. CAUTION! It is very powerful. So use caution if you do so.

i saw that link last year and i had the urge to do it right away. went smooth and i was happy to say I DID IT. mine was pretty dirty and had a good feeling i cleaned something like that
