3rd Gen Blueprints

I have been looking everywhere for blueprints of a 3rd gen 4runner and I can't find any! I have found 2nd Gen and 4th Gen blueprints, but no 3rd gen. Does anyone have some, or know where I can find some?

A 3d model of the body panels etc is only good for a few very specific things, unless you just want a cool picture.

3Dcadbrowser.com, In order to download it you must have a non-free account, the cheapest account costs $99, but right now you can get the account on sale for $80. It's just not worth it to me. Maybe we can get enough people to pitch in and we can buy it. I don't think I want to pay more that $20 though.

I read somewhere on that site that if you have a free account for every model you upload, you get to download one. But turns out there are restrictions on the more popular models. Unfortunately the 3rd gen is one of the popular models and requires a non-free account.

This is a model of some plyers that I made, and they accepted the model, but still won't allow me to download the 3rd gen.

A 3d model of the body panels etc is only good for a few very specific things, unless you just want a cool picture.

I'm really into video and animation, so I can make all sorts of animations with it. If I design a bumper I can put it on the vehicle and see how it looks. There are an endless number of things I could do with it.


If we get enough people that are willing to pitch in, I'd be willing to buy it.

cmon guys, this could be of great use to everyone here, cuz then we could have people like jeff and others do cad designs and mockups for whatever kind of mod you wanted to tech specs.

Don't mean to be a negative nancy, but I can just see some people throwing their money in and nothing really coming of it.

It would be cool to show some models of bumpers and stuff, but there is alot of work and detail that goes into designing a bumper, and by the time you have taken all the measurements off an actual vehicle, mocked it up, etc. well, then paint the mock-up and take a pic, it will look more realistic than the model.

Look how many people have actually done legitimate CAD models of a bumper. I can remember 1, and I don't think it ever got built.

I'd love to. If it wasn't the last week of school and me having finals next week I totally would. After finals I will be in Moab for a week, then I'm going to Spain, so check back in June and I'll have something for ya.

I'm not asking for money from you, only people that are interested and may have some sort of skill with 3d programs. Anyone that knows how to use 3d modeling programs would appreciate having the model.

That's where you are wrong. Do you know anything about v-ray? You can make some really realistic renderings with it. It really comes down to how skilled you are.

I've been learning to make models for video games like Grand Theft Auto. I have wanted to do a 3rd gen, too. This would be cool if you could get ahold of them.

I don't know if it would help, but I can get the measurements that a body shop would use. Measurements for the frame and the door openings???

solidworks is the SHIZ..

I've seen it first hand but never worked with it. I've only used AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit. SolidWorks is amazing though, I would love to know how to use it eventually.

yeah it's an awesome program. I learned autoCAD, inventor, and Revit first. Just finished up taking a class in Solidworks.

This could be a great tool for modding up tire carriers, armor, bumpers, cargo storage, you name it! The render can even be saved to be specific to early and late 3rd gens as well as year specific outlying the details such as the lack of body mounts in the '96 3rd gens, the difference in T-cases and much more. Too bad we all can't afford Solidworks we could stress test too.

Might be nice to see how paint schemes would work or other appearance related things go. Could be good for some logo work too.

I'll chip in $20 if you decide to go that route.

I know of both a front bumper and a rear bumper that were designed in CAD and built - MINE!

As you can see, my model of the truck was pretty rough. That's because it is very difficult to measure the complex curvature of the body panels. I could have really used that 3D model.

I am definitely willing to chip in to pay for the model. Let me know when and where.

With enough time invested we could have a complete 3-d assembly of the truck an the ability to add/remove individual pieces to get a better look at everything.

One big hold up would be getting access to the needed software... I have a student license for Solidworks, but only till November and I'm not legally supposed to use it for anything but school work. Other than that I think it's a great idea because it would be easy to get specific dimensions of various parts of the truck, create a 2-d drawing and email the pdf file to whoever needed it.
