3rd gen brake diagnosis help

I have a 99 SR5 2WD with ABS, Tundra 199mm calipers up front and new shoes in back. I had to lock up brakes last week when a teen pulled out in front of me, I was doing about 50. Now my pedal has developed long travel and reduced braking, can pump twice to get a firmer pedal. I replaced master cylinder and bled. I dont see any leaks and I'ms still having the issue. Any helpful suggestions?

You say 'lock up' but do you mean pressed as hard as you could till abs kicked in?

But in general these trucks don't have very good pedal feel and often feel like the pedal 'sinks' too far yet that's how they are and work. :cowboy:

Since you replaced the master cylinder, you likely have air in the abs circuits. You need a fancy code reader to properly bleed most abs.

Try and bleed with the engine running. Do you have bubbles at the bleeders?

Yes I braked suddenly, ABS kicked in came to a "stuttering" ABS stop. Pedal travel was ok after, but has gotten worse in the 2 weeks since. Will try and bleed again with truck running. Master reservoir was not low at the time of near accident or after, and no ABS light. Also the E brake wont engage the drum brakes. cables and bell cranks on rear drums are fine.

Try adjusting your rear brakes first, if the rear shoes are out of adjustment it will cause excessive brake pedal travel and a softer pedal.

I opened up the rear drivers side drum and the spring that holds the adjustment level was broke. replacing it, adjusting rear brakes, hope it's that simple.

Turns out passenger rear brake adjustment lever snapped in half, and the loose piece gouged my axle seal.

Rear brakes replaced, and adjusted. Truck stops as it should now. However rear axle seal is still leaking Mobil 1 diff oil into passenger drum. FML, still don't understand why adjustment lever snapped in two.
