3rd Gen Brakes

Alright, about to go pick up my first 4Runner. Previously an avid member of NASIOC with my WRX and in the interim drove a 98 Tacoma.

I'm about to purchase a 2wd 2001 4Runner Sport (4WD was my preference, but I live in SoCal now and finding a 4x4 at a good price is tough). Gladly the most offroading I do it gravel and dirt roads when camping :cowboy:.

Now, I got the modding bug again and need some advice. With my WRX I had hawk hps pads, brembo slotted rotors, ss brake lines and performance fluid. Loved it for track days and fun street performance. With the 4Runner I don't need that kind of high speed performance, but I would like to improve the stopping power and durability of my brakes without a BBK, unless there are low cost options for upgrades (I hear highlander kits). Any suggestions for rotors, pads, etc?

- I don't do much towing.

Per my new member status: Pics soon to come, along with plenty of planned mods.

There aren't really any 'high performance' brake kits for the 4runner. You can get SS lines and slotted rotors, but beyond that, Tundra brakes are the best you are going to do.

Btw, don't settle for a 2wd. You will regret it later, as I did with my 1st tacoma. Keep looking!
