3rd Gen Foglights

my 2002 SR5 did not come with Fog Lights from Toyota. I bought an aftermarket set that someone suggested on this forum, but they quickly burnt out and the lens cracked.

anyone have any suggestions for where i can get factory or oem foglights, OTHER than Toyota directly or my dealership?

Got mine from there too. Work/worked great for a while. My set keeps eating up bulbs left and right. Must have gone through 6 or 8 bulbs since I installed them in March. Not the best at keeping water out of the assemblies - I found that bulbs would usually go out after a big rain storm or after getting a carwash. Weak. Also, if you had fog lights as standard equipment (with the switch on the turn signal stalk), the wiring that comes with the kit will not control the operation of the fog lights. The OEM switch will turn them on and off. I don't even bother replacing the bulbs anymore, since they only help minimally with visibility. I usually would have them on solely for looks, but now I have none at all.

wow, thats kind of a bummer. i bought my lights from them over a year ago, and i havent had a single problem with them. still on the same set of bulbs, and they work just fine, and i run with them on all the time im driving at night (yea im "that guy" )

Sounds more like a grounding problem than anything with the lights... have you checked the ground to make sure its good?

Haven't checked the ground but I will. Also, when replacing bulbs after the blow, there is this white residue crap on the inside of the assemblies, similar to when batteries get really old in flashlights/ handheld electronics, etc...

white residue sounds like corrosion from moisture inside the lights.
it's been a while but i remember seeing posts where a few guys fabbed up shields to hang behind the lights to stop the tires from spraying them
