Hey everybody,

I've got a '97 SR5 thats been handed down to me that i now use for winter to go snowboarding and such. I've recently found this site with a wealth of great information and am now wanting to do a few things here and there.

I'm going to be putting on some aux lights soon, been looking at the Piaa 520's and the Hella 500's, pretty torn between the two but am leaning more towards the Piaa's now (yes, i've searched for comparisons, maybe a bit too much :redbrick:). A set of fogs first then maybe a set of driving lamps too. I’m going to make some brackets to mount them so hopefully that goes well.

Anyone from Van too? I’m pretty sure I noticed some BC plates in some of the pics but I don’t know if you’re on here much anymore. The Van/BC section is deaaaaddd…

welcome aboard, I'm just in North Van and thanks for commenting on my build. PIAA's are steeply priced here locally, I would order them online and have 'em shipped to Point Roberts in Washington at a place called "The Letter Carrier", that's what I do for online purchased items..beats Int'l shipping.

Thanks. No worries, a build like that deserves the praise

Yea, i know they are. I've been looking around for prices and the lowest i've got $270 for the 520's. Overpriced still? I've checked american sites and amazon has them for around $180USD. I know about the letter carrier thing at pt roberts but thanks.
Dont know if you have any personal experience or seen the Hella 500s but would you pay the difference again for the Piaa's over other lights (ex. the Hella 500s)?

Both are reputable companies so I'm not gonna be bias, lot's of guys run Hella 500's and they seem to love it...reason why I have the PIAA's being, that my brother gave me a pair for free, and the other two pairs I got for $400 at our local craigslist. couldn't pass it up.

Welcome... a wealth of information on here. I joined around teh 1st opf Sept and all I have been doing is searches on here for various things and I'm still learning. Its great.

Wow awesome brother you have there, and good deal basically $400 for 3 sets.

I saw in your build thread that you replaced the alternator with an oem one so i assume all your lights work fine with it? I've read that it should be fine with a couple sets of lights but i just want to make sure. Can you have all 3 sets of lights, with the stock lights, and say your radio, and heater on?? I know i have much learning to do and your help is very much appreciated

Oh yeah that's basic'lly the price I paid for 3 sets, and no I don't remember replacing the alternator due to the added lighting or for any matter but in any case..having all 3 sets of PIAA's, one Hella HID, headlights, heater and radio all on at the same time has been a no issue at all..My battery shown no sign of drain...You should be fine...

Let's discuss any other related issues in my build thread..allowing room for the Newer Members and the Welcoming Committee. thanks dude:cheers:
