3rd Gen FS, May be a Good Buy?

I stumbled across what looks like a pretty clean 3rd gen on Craigslist today. I didn't post this in a "for sale" thread because it's not mine.

A little more of a risk than the $6200 I paid for a mint 184k '99 I just bought this week but it looks very good for the age it has on it. Check it out really, really well and you'll know if it's worth considering. The good news is with that much mileage you can offer whatever you think and if they make a stink, just walk away. Would help to be mechanically inclined too...

I picked up an 02 Sport Edition with just over 150K back in January. I just happened across the listing when I was browsing for random keywords and figured if someone nearby is in the market it would be worth a look.

Jeep shafts are interchangeable in a d44 since they came with d44 in some models. Same diameter and length between the two so no mismatch stuff. One ton flat top knuckles are a dime a dozen, and completely interchangeable. It's a cheaper option than running Reid knuckles. Plus it get you steering up put of the way. Lets also point out the fact that he shortened the housing, and re-welded the knuckles on it. When doing this you can rotate the axle to get the correct pinion angle. Really kind of sounds like he knew what he was doing.

Just because he isn't using Longfield shafts, and a Toyota axle doesn't mean is Frankensteined.

I feel like prices are all over the place. I keep an eye on Craigslist in my area and every once in a while I see a good deal pop up, but for the most part I usually just see the same high mileage 4runners in the $3500-5000 range. Most of these have been posted, and updated, for quite a while. The good deals go pretty quick, but I do see them with about 150,000 miles and usually around 4 or $5000. But I kow a lot of it depends on where you live.

Yeah even though I see like 1,000 of them on my way to work everyday, they still get 9-11k here in Denver... :rockthrow:
