3rd gen heater temperature test! These trucks can't be beat for how fast they heat!

I have to say I've never been in a vehicle that makes heat quicker than this one. A 3rd gen 4Runner could sit outside all night in cold temps and you can have piping hot heat in no time... Only in a short few min. Still to this day, I've never found any vehicle able to do it faster, and I've been in and driven many!!! (please make a note of this)

I did a little test with the air temp before I started the car, and then drove for a few min. Here are my results:

I agree with you. I turn on my car, blast the heat and in 4 mins its good to go. My wifes new Honda CRV has to warm up for 3 times that, but her seat warmers do heat up fast!
 
When I was googling around, found many people complaining about their new cars taking forever to heat when it's cold out. These are BRAND NEW cars. Someone said to do this, lol, which would make it heat faster. It's just funny that some people out there have to do this! :)

46F! That's adorable. Do you even close the windows at that temp? It was -8F when I left this morning. I took the Echo.

Damn!!!

I’ve had this truck for over 20 years so have been in many temps, but I just did this to show it’s the same idea. Even when it’s 20° outside this truck still heats up super fast, faster than any other modern vehicle of today. My main point is I don’t think any other vehicle can beat it. Older Toyota’s just crank it out. I’ve owned many different vehicles and still impressed.

Now I'm curious how fast my 4runner would have heated up. It took a while for the echo to warm up and it was parked in the garage (the 4runner was in the woodshed) Usually when it gets cold out and I'm taking the 4runner I run the block heater for a few hours before I'm planning to leave. It usually heats up by the end of my road (1 mile) in that situation!
 
My gf's 2013 Avenger whips my 4runner when it comes to heating. It is quicker to reach warm and blows too hot that I have to shut it off every few minutes. I can run the 4runner on 85 or HOT full time and be somewhat comfortable.
 
My 97's heat is pretty damn good and I agree it heats up super fast.

But, the best heater of any vehicle I've ever owned was my Mk2 Jettas. It would get so hot you couldn't put your hand up to the vent for more than a couple seconds before it actually burned you....
 
My car doesn’t seem to give off too much heat. The other day, when my car was on the freeway at operating temp, I cranked the temp dial to red all the way, and the heat didn’t seem to be that hot. I mean, it’s warm enough, but it wasn’t impressively hot. Is there something I should check? Could this be related to the heater core?

My car doesn’t overheat, and no coolant is leaking anywhere in the footwell.

BOTH of you need to check the radiator cap and the plastic reservoir when the Vehicle is cold. Good chance it’s low. Most overlook this.

Good to know. Thanks. The dealer installed a new radiator when I bought the car, so I assumed the fluid level was ok. I know better than to assume dealership work = ok.
 
Honda Alternators

Just FYI. Honda Denso alternators are crazy expensive. Seat heaters kill the alternators. My friend has 2011 pilot and at 120K miles they had to buy the a refab alternator for $450 from the dealer (no installation).
