3rd Gen Hidden Storage/Compartments!

You will lose some head room if you add that handle though, that's why they didn't put it there. These 4runners for all their strengths are not well endowed in the head room area.

I looked at adding that handle as I often want to grab it, but it isn't there. I sat in it and tried to estimate if I would mind the headroom loss, and I figured that I will probably hit my head on it while entering and exiting, so I decided against it.

If you're trying to hide a small bag what I'd do is open your sunroof until the plastic wind farer pops up, get your tobacco evenly distributed in the bag so its not bulking up in one area, roll the bag up tight throw it under the plastic piece and close the sunroof. Worked like a charm for me

The pocket on the inside of the passenger seat is pretty hidden, especially if you have a seat cover.

And just for the record, if a K9 unit is searching your car, the dog will find ANYTHING that is in there. In fact the handler will know from the way the dog is reacting if something had even been smoked in the car somewhat recently.

Not true, I've got a hell of a story to support my claim.

Long story short, a very generous amount of insanely smelly stuff in my tailgate, half in my snowboard boot and the other half in my roommate's duffel bag. Went through a spring break road block at 11pm. A K9 ravaged my car and picked up no scent from tailgate, however produced a false positive on my driver door. In total, a k9 and over ten cops simultaneously going to town on my car and we still drove away scott free and with every piece of green left untouched.

Moral of the story is canines are not perfect, cops are even more imperfect. If you want to keep yourself out of trouble and still find the need to transport it, at least keep your forward cabin (front and back seats) clear. Even in an open tailgate as with an SUV, officers will first probe for solid suspicion before searching that area. This idea has kept me out of harm's way more than once.

This was when the 2 passengers and I were all being interrogated separately, I was outside next to my tailgate and my 2 roommates were towards the front of my truck. I can hear the officer asking my roommate about the truck so I listen in:

Officer: Now what's that thing there, a scuba?
Roommate: Its his he would know (points to me)
Me: (laughing) Its called a snorkel but yeah same function.
Officer: (angered at me laughing) Well whatever it is it'll look good in our impound.

That is some funny sh!t. LOL Back in the day, my "friend" would always throw a little bag of coffee beans in with the green. On an airplane, the green traveled inside a coffee bag/can. Worked every time.

I have a liquid wrench stash can, and i just keep my good stuff in there. Then i just throw it in my tool box.

The spot under the right rear passenger seat is the best i have found too. My honda civic has some great ones, I wish the 4runner did.

I wish it had more spots too, as I'm looking for a good place to hide my ipod and phone while I'm out on the river my friends car got recently broke into twice down there.. smashed windows and everything completely torn apart inside. It's not a unsafe place its just that kids like to be kids sometimes and steal stuff

You could possibly... triple bag it (water tight fo' sho'), put fishing weights in the last bag, tie a string to the bag and place it in the wiper fluid reservoir with the string neatly tied to the opening. Yeah, find that one Scooby Doo!:nicethread:

3 gallons

My 4runners gas light, and my dads, both 2000s, goes on for the first time at 13.5 gallons and after I drive around for a bit ill fill up about 14. So thay being said with an 18.5 gallon tan its around 5. Which is STUPID haha.

that's pretty clever, never thought about that.

I don't smoke now days, but I did back in the day. If we were transporting it across states in big quantities we would always get a jar of peanut butter, empty it, and put the baggie in there then surround it with the peanut butter. Not only was it hidden but you could not smell it. Plus, food is always a good way of throwing off an officer when their dog smells it. Just assumed well, he's a dog of course he's gonna go for the peanut butter lol. I'm sure it wouldn't work all the time, but out of all the ways to transport it around, I think it's one of the better ways.

If I'm carrying I prefer to use my hide-a-key holder, I stick it under the rear bumper. It doesn't hold more than a couple bones or pills but it's good enough since I don't carry large quantities anyway.
