3rd Gen Hood Blackout Install w/ Pics

Hey guys, I own and operate a large format graphics business and we sell and install a ton of different hood blackout kits for the Offroad and Sport Car Communities. I will be adding a rack and lights soon so I wanted to go ahead and get my hood blackout done to reduce glare.

I will be putting the 3rd gen kits on ebay with detailed installation instructions so keep a lookout for "Toyota 4 Runner 3rd Gen Hood Blackout Kits" soon...

1. The die cut "matte black" hood decal straight from our machine.

2. Visual test fit. All looks well.

3. Soak hood with and adhesive side of decal down with window cleaner, lay adhesive side down on hood and move around into final place.

4. Squeegee away window cleaner, trim cowl overlap, trim washer nozzle holes, reinstall washer nozzles, reclean.

Also can you hook up an 18 wheeler to the edge of it and see if the black out sticker will stand up to that kinda harsh treatment?

Not yet. We generally do Jeep Wranglers, Cherokees, Durangos and Land Rovers. As a matter of fact, we supply one of the countries large Land Rover aftermarket parts suppliers with out kits. Just thought it might spark an interest in the 4R community.

The possibilities with that are pretty much limitless. How durable is it? I mean what if I covered my fender flares in it. Would it chip off easily?

Since we do full vehicle custom wraps, we sell different types of film. I can wrap your whole Runner if you wanted. This particular blackout was done with "Oracal 651 Matte Black". Some films are more durable than others, but I do have films that will conform to the bends of fender flares. None of my films will crack or chip off. They will take a good bit of abuse.
