3rd Gen Oil Cooler Gasket & NIGHTMARE!

Whoever at Toyota designed our 3rd gen oil coolers should be FLOGGED!! The gasket does not hold in place and trying to hold the cooler in place while you try and find the hole for the bolt is a FREAKING NIGHTMARE! I COULD HAVE DONE TWO TIMING BELT JOBS IN THE TIME THIS IS TAKING!

Any advice? I have tried putting a towel under the spot to hold the cooler up but its not working!

Remove oil cooler. Remove the union bolt, gaskets, oil cooler and O-ring.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE:

Replace the O-ring with a new part.
Use a new gasket to the union bolt.

Union bolt:
Torque: 59 Nm (43 ft. lbs.)

Grease it to make it "sticky"

This is the key. I use a lube called "Superlube" It used to come with some of the valve rebuild kits. It's a must when installing A/C orings. ACE hardware has it.

Superlube keeps the gasket in place while you line up the oil cooler.
