3rd gen owner in Tennessee

What's up guys?! I bought my TR4 ($2400 w/300k) in November but just started driving it regularly last month and I have been lurking your site alot for information ever since November. Recently, a kid from down the street hit my VW and totalled it right in front of my house! Needless to say, after paying off my loan, all the extra cash I've gotten from that has gone straight into my 4runner.

These 2 pictures are from almost right after I purchased it. (Took 3 hours to get someone out there to pull me 5 feet and free me from my hole!)

I found a taco winch bumper on Facebook marketplace for 200 bucks. It sits too low and somehow crooked with the bumper brackets that it came with so I'll have to get some better ones made. But this is it sits for now.

My plans include a 3 inch lift, which I have just ordered from toytec a few days ago, and 33's. I ordered a mix of Toytec, OME, Bilstein, Eibach and SPC parts instead of a preassembled kit to keep cost down. Hope to get some maxis bighorns once it's all on and I know what size tires I can run.

Any suggestions you guys have for me would be great and thoroughly appreciated.

Before I make thread just for this, can anyone suggest a solution for why my ignition sometimes decides that it doesn't like my key unless it's just in the right depth? Every 5-10 times I try to start my truck it doesn't like where the key is sitting and won't turn to the left at all. Starting to get annoying...

I got home tonight and opened a bunch of boxes that arrived when I was gone for work this weekend. Can't wait to get em all on and order some maxis bighorns.

Welcome! These things do just take all of your money! I've had mine since February and it has just been downhill for my wallet. I love the thing though and I love modding it so I can't say I mind. I can't wait to see that lift installed!
 
Where you at in TN? I'm a little southeast of Jackson.

I just got my first 4Runner last week. Actually two of them, '97 SR5 and '98 Limited w/factory e-locker.

My '92 fj80 did something similar when I got it. It was apparently just 20+ years of wear on the original key. I went to the Toyota dealership and had them cut a new key from the VIN. Problem solved.
 
Nice! Hit me up if you are free during the week at all. I could use some a hand installing this lift.

You get your lift on? Was tied up with work all last week. Got my wheels off, driveshaft removed, measured for new driveshaft, bought it, bought replacement sunroof glass, and now working to get newer tires put on... busy weekend!
 
Dasrowboat welcome aboard.
Didn't see mention of Panhard bar correction in list of parts, did I miss it.
You could go adjustable, what I did on my 96 don't care for how it handles.
On 01 3" lift I purchased EimKeith's Panhard Correction Kit raises axle end lowers frame end you use stock bar. Best $85 I've ever spent.

No I had some things I had to do this week. I ha e to buy a new jack and jack stands (previous life of lowered cars) when I get back next week and I'm gonna start on it.

I bought a differential drop kit. The guys at toytec said that's all I'd need. Am I missing something?

I hear ya. Actually found a 2nd 95 I'm looking at picking up... if we can come to an agreement on price... yell when you start, depending on work I'll try to give ya a hand
