3rd Gen Purchase Advice

Hi All

I am a long time T4R owner. I had a 96 Limited for years and now own a 2010 Limited. My question is I am in the market fir a used T4R and found a 3rd generation 2000 Limited with 46K Mikes on it. It is mint in every possible way. My problem is that the seller's price is $14,000 nearly $5000 over book. The car is perfect in every way on the other hand. Do you all think this is a reasonable price? I owned a very similar 96 for 12 years and loved it so I understand the quality I am getting. I also know this car sold new in the high $30's and is still practically new. I just cant get over the difference from book. So what do you think? Do it or not?

Super high priced, didn't bother to edmund it but seems at least twice what person to person would be. What makes it so Great????

I think these threads are a bit silly, it all comes down to: is it worth it to you? A super mint, 46k mile truck might be worth it to someone OCD who just wants the cleanest truck out there. If you just want a truck to go wheeling in, I'd say go for a cheaper/rougher unit from the get go and catch it up on maintenance and wear and tear stuff. If money isn't a thing, by all means go for it!

I personally think the real sweet spot is actually a truck that might have over 100k or even 150k on it, but had a knowledgeable owner that already went through and took care of all of the common weak points and did stuff like the t-belt, etc. For me, the biggest priority is getting a non-rusty truck with original paint and body panels, with a strong drivetrain.

I agree. This is where I've been looking. I have just never come across one this old that is literally showroom fresh.

You nailed it with this post. Some people may say "You paid how much for that?" And it can go either way. They may think you way over paid, or stole it, but as long as your happy with the deal at the end of the day that's all that matters.

Another way to look at it is if something happened to your truck I doubt it the insurance would give you what you paid for it, let alone double of what the book price is asking.
Me personally I wouldn't jump on this. I'd buy one at a reasonable price and use the extra money for upgrading the rig.
