3rd gen radio whine, no radio

The radio and most of the interior is out. The wires that come from the vehicle are cut. Amps unhooked...I get a whine through the speakers at about 50 mph. Should I find where this is coming from before I hook the radio back up? Is this a normal weird thing? I've chased whines before but that was when the radio was installed...

make sure your amp power wire and aux cables dont run along with each other. not sure if this is your problem but its usually the case for the whine in some installs.

edit; wait, nothing is hooked up? not even the head unit? im stumped. check if your grounds are solid.

Not even the head unit. I've got the radio, headliner, carpet, seats and sunroof out. I'm at the tire shop now getting new shoes gonna put it all back together in the next couple of days.

Still...need radio install advice. I've put a couple in this one and get weird stuff...the PO installed an aftermarket radio and cut the pig tail and wired the radio harness direct to the radio...

Ok...turns out the whine isn't a whine at all. It's a whistle. When I first got the runner, the radio had a whine. I took out that radio and put in another at the same time I installed a bunch of other stuff...including the light bar. So, here I am...cluster removed because I read there was a speaker in it (probably not true,) no speakers in the car, door buzzer removed, driving down the road with my girlfriend trying to find this insanely annoying humm when she says "it kinda sounds like a whistle." Over the last two years I had convinced myself that it was a whine...could it be a whistle? I removed the light bar and no more whistle. I can't describe the relief mixed with damnitness that I feel right now...
