3rd Gen Speaker Install Questions...

I just got some Infinity Reference speakers (6020cs) for my front doors and had some questions.

I know I need the crossovers. Does the stock speaker system already have crossovers that I will be replacing with the supplied Infinity units? Or will there just be one wire set coming to the door which I will split with the crossover?

I was just planning on butt-splicing the connections. OK? Or am I really looking at issues with this? I don't know how to solder, or have the tools, or a heat gun for the shrink...

Does anyone have a photo of where they mounted the crossover? How did you mount it? Tie wraps?

Thanks in advance,

i simply cut the wires from the stock tweeter and replaced the tweeter with my new one which had a crossover built into the wiring which ran to the new speaker. I taped it onto the door securely, and capped off the wires from the stock tweeter.

I installed the 6020cs on my front doors on my '98 a few weeks ago. I think the OEM tweeters had a built in bass blocker to prevent low frequencies from getting to it. There's a little capacitor-like device soldered onto the OEM tweeter and I haven't found a crossover anywhere. I attached the crossover to an empty space in the door trim above the speaker.

I posted details of my install a few weeks ago. I haven't had a chance to post pictures yet. I'll put up a link in this thread when I post the pictures.
