3rd Gen T4R Advice Please

I am looking for a winter vehicle. I live in Canada, therefore I deal with a significant amoutn fo snow on my daily commute to work.
A co-worker is planning to put his 1998 4x4 V6 T4R up for sale next week. It is in excellent condition inside and out.
It has approx. 240,000km on it (150,000 Miles).
Is it even worth purchasing or do you think I would be dealing with problems on a fairly regular basis (the truck runs fine currently)?
My co-worker has not yet specified a price. What do you think the fair asking price for the vehicle would be? I have searched autotrader for similar vehicles but the prices seem to have a very wide range (anywhere from 3000 - 7000 CAD).

Thanks for any information you can provide.

How many owners has it had? Service records? Has your friend done the timing belt, water pump, cooling system, and all the other maintenance on it? Is it a SR5 or Limited? What is the general condition of the vehicle?

A properly maintained 4Runner will not have big problems, even at 150k miles. If your friend has taken care of it, I would take it to a trusted mechanic or a Toyota dealership and do a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection). And if all checks out, buy it.

I was just informed he is asking $5000CAD for the truck. It has had all major maintenace completed. i.e. timing belt/water pump/new tires/oil changes etc...

Any opinions?

Is the cost too high?

Thanks

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me especially if he is the only owner. Just make sure to get the mechanic inspection first, so you don't lose any friends over it.:(

Having just shopped for one of these pretty hard for my son, I can tell you that's a fair (maybe even good) price if the vehicle is as you've described.

These tend to have high mileage which doesn't really seem to hurt their value.
