3rd Gen Tacoma suspension swap onto 4th Gen 4Runner

So I've been reading this thread and there is a ton of good info here - thanks to all that have contributed, especially Bluesky 07.

I've come across a set of very little used 2022 Tacoma TRD Sport /front coilovers and rear shocks - Toyota/Hitachi labeled, not Bilstein. I have a 2003 4Runner Sport that's just about to hit 300k on the ODO that we bought new which my wife drove forever, then I did for a while, followed by my daughter, and now it my son's turn. Of course it's the rake that he can't stand, and I agree it needs to go, but I'm not looking to spend a lot on this rig at this point.

So my question is, can I simply remove the X-REAS shocks and put these Tacoma Sport shocks on to get similar results as many of you have?

Seeing you're replacing front and back that should work. There's tons of posts on getting rid of X-REAS, I don't have it so not sure if there's any electronic goodies that need to be disabled so best to look through conversion threads. The Tacoma struts should fit after a bit of trimming of the lower eyelet on the struts but you could end up with extra height in the front.

T4R rookie here and probably the 6th or 7th person to bump this thread. Reading each page has been extremely helpful as I plan to retire the original suspension on my 2007 V6 4x4 w 193k miles. There are plenty of 3rd gen Taco OR sets for sale around me. I plan to swap the UCA and front components over (drop in which is nice). I will use the rear shocks and still deciding on what rear spring to use (slight rake is the goal so suggestions would be helpful).

My main question is on the ride. I read on another thread that someone had issues with the 4.0L weight on the front (taco having a 3.5L). And the bouncy rears due to the lack of left springs. Is it all that bad? I will rarely tow anything and the back will be loaded with luggage or gear from time to time, but most of my time will be spent on Costco runs, commuting, and some light to moderate offloading in central Florida. Ironically enough, I just put the 16” Taco OR wheels on my T4R and swapping the respective suspension over seems like a happy coincidence, feels right given the price point, and what I look to achieve; that is, refreshing my old worn out components, and achieving a slight lift while keeping a normal rake.
