Theres not too much as far as reviews go on the boss kit so i figured id give my 2cents for those of you who care or are looking into the kit. i paid about 1154 for mine including shipping and a $57 discount. i got silver coils up front which was extra and bilstein 5125 rear which was extra as well. i did the install myself with my dad and it was pretty easy and straight forward. if you dont have a long heavy prybar to get the lca low enough to allow the longer front coilover in good luck.the quality of everything was very good and i was extremely happy with everything. They have the front coil options from 500lb-650lbs. I chose the 600lb coils to have a stiffer ride and also to support a bumper and winch in the future. The ride quality is great compared to my stock suspension its much smoother and actually soaks up bumps. So far i have no complaints about the kit. I am just the usual weekend off roader and i dont rock crawl or anything so for my uses as a daily driver and a toy on the weekends, this kit suits those needs perfectly.

Hey thanks for sharing your thoughts on the boss kit. I'm assuming you went 285's as far as tires go?

It looks really great!
I have 265/70/17 and would love that lift but my tire option would look funny I think. Although, I might go with the new 255's in the duratracs! I'm sold on these tires, love them

Anyways, two thumbs up, looks great!

Thanks man! Yeah I went with 285/75/16. I love the duratracs too they're awesome. They fit great but they're pretty close on the inside to the UCAs so I'm gunna grind them down a little bit. The 255s would be awesome. In the first pictures when I still had my stock tires those are the same size as you have so that'd be what it'd look like for you without the larger tires. Thanks for the complements!

How's the handling?

I want to use the same Toytec BOSS kit to lift my truck. But I was wondering how these lift kits affect handling at high speed (>65mph). I have a 2 1/2 yr old toddler and I was a little worried that lifting might compromise handling of the truck in the freeway.

I have the boss kit and can cruise 70 down the freeway with no hands on the wheel if I want...

I think that if anything it handles better on the freeway than my 4Runner did with the worn stock components.

Of course around tight corners (that you should slow down for anyway) it will tend to lean a bit more... But it's nothing horrible.

I commute a lot on the freeway and I have quite the led foot unfortunately. So I'm usually going 75-80 on the freeway and it feels really stable, I feel more planted on the ground then I did with my stock suspension that would feel like I was floating all over and wasn't very stable. Obviously the center of gravity is a little higher, so take that in consideration when turning at high speeds, but then again it's a lifted truck so that shouldn't be done in the first place lol. In my opinion I feel more comfortable on the freeway now at the same speeds because of the stiffer much improved suspension.

Wow, yeah i was thinking those were maybe 265/60/16 because they just look small!! And goofy looking it's amazing how perfect the new tires fit. I could go that route but would feel the need for gears. Do you guys have those stupid huge speed humps that they put on like 30 mph roads? Man I'll tell yeah those things rock my worn out suspension, they drive me nuts! Oh well in a few more months it will be my turn to lift. Keep the good reviews coming my mind is changing more and more with each post!

Luckily not too many speed bumps where I live lol, yeah the stock tires were 265/70/16 and they were way too small with the lift, very happy with how the 285s fit. If you go the same route I did you won't be disappointed! Good luck in the future with your lift!

Has anyone who has these had them on any rough roads? where I live the roads are less than ideal and im looking for a lift that will take the bumps pretty easily and I drive quick on a lot of rocky dirt roads and rough washes and want to not feel like im bouncing all over the place.

Very good question, I too have very poor road conditions in some parts of town but my main problem when exploring back roads are the washboards on dirt roads. When going up hill and hitting those I just lose traction, right now the only way for me to counter act this problem is to lock the rear axle ( gray wire mod) by doing this I can climb any road with them pesky washboards and do fine. Other then that I can do 4wheel drive but hate to be in 4x4 unless necessary.

Thanks for the kind words Daniel, look forward to watching the progress of your rig.

By the way, where about NorCal are you from?

Redding or close too? I just ask because I used to spend my summers in shingletown a little east of redding. Loved exploring that area.

My buddy has the soft front eibacks and is stiff as hell compared to my ome setup. In the dirt is just rough. I don't see how everyone says they ride so smooth.

I'm in the Bay Area, but this summer I have a trip planned up in that area (kinda) going to do the modoc backcountry trail to the Oregon border

Do you have much weight in the rear cause the 891s are stiffer? How do those ride? I love mine too it's perfect!
Not really, just the stock spare underneath, a full sized spare in the back, along with a few recovery items. I was really on the fence about going with the 891's, but I would have to say the rear feels better than the front with the 600lb springs. My front makes a clunk noise when things get rough. I think it's just the suspension dropping to full droop. Makes me wonder if I should get some limiter straps to protect the shocks. Any ideas? I do have the LR control arms, so I think the UBJ should be fine.

I just took her through a high speed canyon yesterday. I have removed the front sway bar and thought I would have to take the corners in the canyon a little slower than the 60 mph speed limit, but it felt completely safe at 65. I can barely tell a difference between my lifted 4Runner running with no sway bar and my wife's stock one. The 600lb front springs may keep the front planted a little better.

I have put over 600 miles on my lift so far. I would have to say that 500 of those miles have been off road. Once again, I feel the rear end is perfect with the 891/5125's. I feel like I need to get some weight on the front to get it feeling better. I always air down to around 15lbs so it always feels a little unstable if I get a little crazy.

Although, I might go with the new 255's in the duratracs!

Are you talking 255 85's? If so I didn't think duratracs came in that size. You are very limited to a few tires if you want the 255. BF makes a km2, Cooper makes a ST, Toyo and their ridiculously over priced MT, Maxxis makes one, and I think Super Swamper. This is mine sitting on 255's with 1.25 spacers. I didn't want to get different rims to run 285's. I don't like how much the 285's balloon out on the stock rims so I went with the 255's. I love the look and the onroad handling so far!

^^^^No, sorry for the confusion, I have 17's ....so I was thinking of getting the 255/75/17 ..I think that's the size, it's basically the jeep rubicon size there are only probably three tires made in that size and duratracs just came out in it as well. They come out to 32" so not much bigger then what I am currently running which is 265/70/17. I look at the weight of the tire and most 285 in 16" and 17" are around 55 pounds and those new duratracs are 40 pounds. And they are only 160 a tire at tire rack....cheap cheap cheap

So you are running the 255/85/16 and those look great! Sometimes I wish I didn't move up to the 17 but oh well. The only reason I worry about weight is the shop accidentally put load E on my rig when I got my duratracs which are about 6 pounds heavier then what I have no, and my truck turned into a slug!! I couldn't handle it I couldn't maintain cruise on a flat highway in 5 gear, I had to shift to 4 all the time. I went to the C's and now problems.
BoostedRNR....what lift are you running? The boss as well? As the OP?

Right on, for some reason when people say NorCal I know they mean the Bay Area but I always think more like eureka area lol!...modoc trail? I'm going to look it up, I love southern Oregon/ California border area it's such beautiful country!!

Yea, I'm running the boss as well. I've turned the front coilovers down two full turns and think I will keep going till I actually see some difference in height or ride. I eventually want to get a bumper, but I need to get skids and sliders first. I know what you mean by the E rated tires. My wife's 4Runner has them and it rides like a freaking tank! I can't wait for them to wear out and I can get something a little softer.
