Transmission fluid level

Ok, so I did a drain and fill on the wife's 01 LTD this weekend. I drained about @ 4 quarts, so I put 4 quarts back in. The thing drives fine, and I checked the fluid and it is in the middle of the "hot" range when the engine is hot. The problem is, I checked it this morning after the car had been sitting all night and the fluid was still right in the middle of the "hot" range on the dipstick.

Anyone ever seen this before? I've never owned anthing but standard transmissions before we got this 4runner, so I don't know what to think.

i dont think that much should be an issue, were you parked on level ground?

Yes, level ground. Thanks for the reply. The vehicle seems to be doing fine.

no problems should occur, but if you want just check it every day for the next 2-3 days got kicks and giggles.... if it makes you feel better! congrats on your tranny flush

Was your morning check before or after startup? It should be checked engine running trans in P or N.

Was before I started it. I'll try it in the AM with right after startup.

Rule of thumb is that a pint over or under full will cause shifting problems in an automatic transmission.

I also do the flushes myself. When I bought mine it had 113,000 miles on it and I don't know if it had been changed. But I didn't want to take it to a shop to do a complete flush. So I drained and refilled, drove it for a week, drained and refilled, then did it again. So I changed out most of the fluid in that way. You could change the fluid again since the torque converter holds lots of fluid and you didn't change that, only whats in the pan.

Yeah, this was my 4th drain and fill in the last 5K miles. It has 120K on it right now.
