Agreed. Someone just needs to step up to the plate and offer a bolt on turbo manifold for the 3.4's.

CXRacing. offers an bolt on kit. I've known them from my turbo Mitsubishi days. If you reweld the welds and support the weight of the turbo they will last. I plan on getting just there Mani and doing the rest myself with an hx35 holset turbo and e85 fuel.

would be nice to have a statistic of how many have been released total to keep our hopes lively of the idea of eventually getting one since original production up until the recent cease of production

they will be around. I'm sure there are SC's just hanging out in shops/peoples garages/ETC just collecting dust.... *sigh* :cry2:

That's really disappointing. I don't really understand why either. I always thought it was neat being a stock option to get a supercharger on a truck... RIP

From what I read, you'll still be able to order parts from the dealers, they'll just keep their stock levels down. They'll also support the SC for the next ten years. Typical JIT inventory system to control costs and increase efficiency. My only concern is that cost's will definitely go up.

Yeah but expect the price to keep going up. They used to be $2,695 when I was first looking to buy a 4Runner last year and I expect that as inventories drop prices will go up. Simple economics of supply and demand. Same will go with the nose cones.

Sounds like someone needs to find a way to put a engine from the MK-IV Supra in their 4Runner, if they haven't already.... I think it's the 2JZ-GTE. 6 cyl. Twin Turbo.

In a past life my brother had a MK-III and the MK-IV, while I had the GT-4 Celica... God those were a blast. Those were so easy to modify and have fun with!

I never saw it, but I was told a distant cousin of mine put a LS1 in a 1st. Gen 4Runner. That could be fun!

Nope. They are now officially more rare than they were before. They are gonna fetch 3k+ new now, seeing there's still millions of 4Runners on the road.

Most welds break because people dont support he weight of the turbo. I know people that have supported there manifolds correctly on there turbo DSM's with heavy turbos and them last a good amount of time. Another option is completely rewelding all the welds. Still a lot cheaper if you can weld.

This is the route I was going to take before I started my build. It would be a hell of a lot of power with just a few mods for that vehicle.

Someone already stuffed one into a 2wd 3rd gen, and it looked fairly straightforward if you are good at fabrication. The biggest hurdle I saw was trying to find a way to adapt a transfer case to the Getrag transmission, as there are no bolt holes on the tailshaft housing. You could use a 1jz bellhousing to adapt to the R154, but then it would limit how much hp you could put to it. The MKiv 6 speed is stupid strong.

I'm sure if you had someone that was good with cad and had access to a 4 axis cnc mill you could make a custom tailshaft housing.

I wouldnt trust them for anything that sees bumps or offroad. It may be fine onroad if you support the turbo better but still wouldnt trust it offroad. There is a reason why my up-pipe is .1/4 wall and braced to multiple locations.

Yikes, they are disappearing fast! Looks like there wasn't very many to begin with, and the new is probably driving up sales real quick to snap up the last few new ones that exist.

Looks like the era of supercharging our 4Runners is coming to an end very quickly.

Even after I support and reweld it? But I do see your point. Just for grins people are launching 600+whp AWD cars with slicks on these ebay style cheap manifolds with not to many issues. Its almost like hitting a rock when wheeling. Enough where my 400+whp car could turn on windshield wipers, left blinker and my toggle switches. LOL. Its pretty rough on the manifold. Granted a good flex pipe on the exhaust also helps a lot.

LCE Performance has been selling them for years.
I might have to pull the trigger now. I've been looking for years to get a used 3RZ SC. I guess thats what credit cards are for! LOL

I know myself and two other people I know purchased SCs yesterday... Wasn't in the plan for at least a year, but things changed yesterday.

The bulletin from Toyota said no SCs but replacement parts for 10 years... we will see. I know the dealer I talked to yesterday knew about the discontinue but they still had some unanswered questions. More details to come I am sure.

What company makes the trd superchargers? I have wanted one really bad but I'm not ready to drop 3k today on one. This sucks . I was going to buy one at Xmas time.
