put 1,200 miles on the 4runner this weekend and everything worked great. Suspension worked awesome although I need different rear coils as the weight of all the camping gear sagged the rear more than I would have thought. With the plan of adding goose-gear modules, roof rack, and a trailer I will definitely need heavier rated coils.
Driving the 4runner loaded with the camping gear through the hills I was less than impressed with its ability and will be upgrading to a supercharger asap.
Next mods will be:
Onboard shower
roof rack
supercharger.

Got the mount for my ipad finished up. Worked well over this weekend exploring on rough jeep trails with minimal movement.
Had a minor issue this weekend with the amount of dust that was coming into the 4runner. The interior was covered in dust and it appeared that it was coming from the vent at the rear driver panel.

Just saw your build for the first time somehow and when I saw you had installed 891s I was waiting for this post. The OME 861 is what you're going to want to replace them with.
Awesome build! It looks like quite the head turner.
Where in OR are you?

Do the 861 coils give the same amount of lift as the 891? When I first put the 891's on it had the perfect amount of rake and now I sit level without any gear loaded and have only put about 3,000 miles on them.

The 861 is a taller spring but it is literally the only one I have found that will support the weight we're toting around. My rear is at 25" I think, with 1/2" of that being a body lift. That's with no tent, empty water can, and no cooler. With all of that loaded up I sit at about 24". Hub to fender, of course.
I was born in Salem and have quite a bit of family down there still. Went to Liberty Elementary when I was a kid.

If I end up around 25" that will be perfect as I am currently around 23" and sitting level. I would like to have about a 1 1/2" rake for when I hook up my trailer and start adding drawers.
Ordered the 861's and should have them next week just in time to test them out on my late season elk hunt scouting trip.

Took a load to the dump after cleaning up my shop so I could have room to start building my roof rack. Also, was a good time to test how the 4runner towed the trailer as I will be taking it on a 1200+ mile trip for my late season elk hunt this year packed full of a weeks worth of gear for two people.

Also got my collapsible stove for heating the military tent for the elk hunt and also for coyote hunting and snow shoeing trips planned this winter.

Awesome build!! Looks like we have similar tastes! I plan on doing the Icon Stg 5 too, as well as some type of drawer system, and eventually have my own blue healer! The dog is a ways away because I just can't swing being responsible enough to for one right now.
How's your overall impression of the Icons? Do you find that you actually use the adjustable function of rear shocks at all? Also, which goose gear setup are you going with? I've been leaning towards an ARB setup with the slider tops, as I will be building a sleeping platform inside for less remote road trips.

I am really happy with the Icons and I definitely like having the adjustability in the shocks. I change the rear at least once a week when I load up stuff for work or haul stuff in my military trailer. I thought it was more of a gimmick, but I can tell when I load my trailer up and forget to change the setting on the rear shocks.
I am planning on going with the goose-gear campkitchen 2.1 and then a single drawer next to it to store jumper cables, tow strap, tools, etc.

Setup my military tent to test it out with the stove and ended up melting the stove jack on the tent and smoking myself out. My goose gear funds went towards purchasing a 14x16 wall tent now.
This weekend I also installed the OME 861 springs and found they raised the rear of the 4runner 2.5" from what it was with the 891's. Will see in a month what height they end up settling at. I can definitely feel that these coils are stiffer than the 891's. Hopefully they won't sag with the weight of the rear bumper/swingout and using the M101 trailer.

Just looking at the picture of your stove setup I was wondering how well that was going to work. I didn't foresee it melting anything, but just the smoke present in the photograph made me wonder a bit.
I like the rest of your setup, and will enjoy watching it progress. Keep up the good work!

I just don't think the tent is really designed for a wood stove as it is not large enough. The stove jack is only about 10" above the stove and with just kindling in the stove it melted the stove jack and made the tent too hot to be in. I figured it was worth a try though, ill just use this tent for quick trips and use a mr. heater to keep warm.
The stove smokes a lot less now than when the picture was taken. I went with a different stove for the wall tent though and this one will be used to heat up my shop this winter when I am working on projects. So at least some good will come from this purchase.

Took awhile to get the bender die set calibrated to work with the bend tech program.

This is where taking the time to calibrate the die paid off as the two pieces match up perfectly and dimensions came out correctly.

For this rack I am just going to go with a flat rack for now and then when I am finished I will start working on building one like my original design with the sides then sell whichever one I end up not liking.

Glad you are ok and just down a tent. That looked pretty sketchy. Maybe it's just me, but the heaters in any military tent never worked very well. Granted, they ran on fuel, but they sucked just the same. I had to chase everyone out of one after I came in from the snow and notice a few people not looking good and coughing. I think it was an issue with the heater and I wasn't going to take any chances.
Nice rack build! If you have the time and money, the right tools really make a project much more fun.
