3rd Row Seat and NAVI.

Can you get both the 3rd row seat and the navigation or are they mutually exclusive? I remember reading somewhere that you can't get both, but a salesperson informed me that he had never heard of such a thing. Does anyone have any more information?

Also, has anyone had the Rear Entertainment DVD installed? Can you connect external video sources? Do you have any pictures you can share?

Thanks

Yes, you cannot have the 3rd row seat with the factory navigation system. The reason is that the cpu for the nav is located in the back right wheel well and the 3rd row seat hooks onto the wall in that spot. You could get an aftermarket nav system though, one that has all the components in the head unit itself.

I have the port rear dvd player and it is so so. You can connect external devices to it, it has a composite video and rca audio inputs. The FM modulator works fine as do the head phones. It hangs really low and whoever is in the back seat always manages to hit their head really hard. Luckily the dvd player is built like a rock and can take it, but my friend's heads are not so strong. I'm sorry I do not have any pictures.

How about 3rd row seat with X-REAS? I have 04 limited with 3rd row seat but I do not know if mine came with X-REAS.

I know Toyota is making a few changes for 2006. I think you may be able to get navigation with 3rd row seats. I think it is still the same for XREAS though.

You can't get a third row seat with XREAS. That is why the 3rd row seat is not available on the Sport Edition (standard XREAS).

sigh. Canada no longer carries the 3rd row seat option though

:awais:

edit: XREAS is standard on 05 Limited V6's and V8's

No. SE's originally came standard with a sunroof that's why you cannot get the 3rd row in an SE. You can get a Limited with 3rd row and XREAS. It was a standard package in New England for the 2004 and 2005 model years. This may have changed for 2006.

Nav uses the JBL system which requires the 10 speakers. 2 speakers mount in the same location as the 3rd row seat belt anchors, so no JBL also means no Nav. You can get a Camry Nav unit to replace the stock (non-JBL radio).

How about Canadian Limited models? I have a limited wirh 3rd row seat but I do not think it came with XREAS. I hope I am wrong but..

I am just wondering what year Sport's came standard with a sunroof? I used to have a 2003 Sport and it listed the sunroof as an $1100 option. I have to say that I couldn't find one sport without a sunroof though!

All of the documentation/literature I had for 2004 stated that the sunroof was standard on the SE. Every SE I have seen on the road around here has a Sunroof, but according to Edmunds configurator it is an option. Anybody order an SE without a sunroof?

Now that it's well into the '06 MY, does anyone know if you can get the Navigation with the third row seating (options NV and TH)? This is for a '06 Limited.

Evidently - Yes!

Went on the Toyota site and "built" a 4 x 4 V8 4Runner Limited. I live in NE Ohio and the Cincinnati area ( Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee) area is the default.

Chose Option Combination #C (? #C LOL- funny Japs) for $5385.
Option Combination #C $5,385
- 50-State Emissions(FE)
- DVD Navigation System w/JBL AM/FM/CD and Backup Camera(NV)
- Daytime Running Lights(RL)
- Driver & Front Passenger Side Airbags and Front & Second- Row Roll-Sensing Side Curtain Airbags w/Cutoff Switch(GY)
- Power Tilt/Slide Moonroof(SR)
- Rear Spoiler w/Center High-Mounted Stop Lamp(RF)
- Third Row Seats(TH)

4Runner 4x4 Limited V8
Base Price:* $38,385.00
Delivery, Processing
& Handling Fee:** $605.00
Options: $5,385.00
Accessories: $0.00

Total MSRP:*** $44,375.00

This combination is NOT an option with the V6 on my build screen.
Also, with this combination - NO X-REAS! A deal breaker for me!

You can get the X-REAS with the following:

Option Combination #B $2,905
- 50-State Emissions(FE)
- Daytime Running Lights(RL)
- Driver & Front Passenger Side Airbags and Front & Second-Row Roll-Sensing Side Curtain Airbags w/Cutoff Switch(GY)
- JBL

For what it's worth, for 2006 the 3rd row (option TH) conflicts:

with option EJ=the 10-speaker JBL. It DOES NOT conflict with JBL/NAV as it only has 8-speakers. You can get NAV with 3rd row.

with option NF = rear air suspension. For USA, this is only an option on Limited V8.

with option CM = double decker cargo.

with I1 = ???.

I am not sure what the SE conflict is that prevents the 3rd row.
The 3rd row does not conflict with sunroof, although I think it did prior to 2006. And the sunroof was never standard on any models.

Hmmm... I say X-REAS (with or without rear air suspension) are not built with the third row, thus third row is not available on the SE and Limited's equipped with X-REAS. But the '06 brochure only says X-REAS with air suspension (V8 Limited option) conflicts with the third row, doesn't mention conflicts for the X-REAS only option.

'03-04 navigation systems had 10 speakers, so it couldn't be had with the third row. The '03-04 had a seperate DVD-ROM drive for the navigation, which is mounted above the right rear passenger wheel well. Because of the seperate DVD-ROM unit, the '03-04 navigation system had a cassette deck. The '05 navigation systems are the all-in-one units with the DVD-ROM built-in, thus the cassette deck was deleted. '05 navigation systems are 8 speakers. My '05 brochure states navigation can be had with the third row in early 2005.

My guess is Toyota was waiting to exhuast their current supply of old navigation units (ones with seperate DVD-ROMs), thus some '05 models still had the old units. My '04 Camry even in the brochure says it has a cassette deck, but instead it has the all-in-one unit (has a 9/03 build date). So Toyota probably kept the older units for their Japan built vehicles.

In 2004, you couldn't get the third row with NAV. In 2005, Toyota changed the NAV system to an 8-speaker system thus allowing the two seatbelt anchors for the third row to mount where the two speakers were in the back.

Theoretically, you can get the third row with the NAV. But finding one could be a problem depending on your region and if Toyota sends any with those two options to your region.

I appreciate everyone's feedback. I have scoured Toyota's, Edmund's, and KBB's sites, and have failed to come up with conclusive evidence whether I can get an '06 V6 2WD Limited with navigation AND third row seats (preferably with X-REAS). Does anyone here work at an dealer and can punch this combination into the computer to see if it's actually possible?

If it is possible, but there's none slated for my region (Gulf Coast), can I special order it, and if so, how long does that take?

BTW, it IS possible on Toyota's site to build an SR5 with third row seats AND navigation, but Toyota doesn't give third row seats as an option for the Limiteds.

Thanks for the help

Hmm. You didn't mention 2WD in your original post.

I didn't think that it would make any difference. Am I wrong?

Well, yes. In an earlier post I did indicate that you CAN get the third row seat and NAV in a 4WD Limited (at least i nthe Cincy region).
