3rd row seat option for 2004?

I have heard there might be a 3rd row seat option for SR5 and Limited in 2004 models. I have read this in a couple of places. Does anyone know for sure?

By the way, I have read the August Consumer Reports and it had the new 4Runner evaluated. Bottom line, they recommend 4 mid-size SUV's, the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Toyota 4Runner and the Nissan Pathfinder. That makes the 4Runner the only mid-size with a frame recommended by Consumer Reports.

I've heard the same thing, but can't figure out where it would go -- there's no room for the passengers' legs.

Then again, I've also heard that the Highlander would get the thrid row to compete with the MDX.

I read that the seats would fold up to the side and that they would be an added option.

I don't think the Highlander is in competition with the MDX (Toyota has Lexus for that.) If anything, the Highlander competes with the Pilot.

The Highlander is so small, I don't think it is competing against many models. I appeals to people who want a quality, small car-based SUV.

I don't think the Highlander is in competition with the MDX (Toyota has Lexus for that.) If anything, the Highlander competes with the Pilot.

I don't know if the Highlander is getting a third seat in the future, but if your comparing it to a Pilot, remember the Pilot has a third seat. It is not real big , but it is a third seat.

I think Toyota's strategy is to squeeze the competition instead of direct competition.

For example: GX470 and RX330 squeezing MDX

Another: Highlander and 4runner squeezing Pilot (since 4runner is gonna get 3rd row seat)

It's a good strategy so far.
