Bump.

Anyone have any suggestions on which are better engine block heaters? Ive heard of two kinds, one that warms the coolant and one that warms the oil pan. Any suggestions which is better? Price differences? etc?

I think an inline one for a the coolant will run you about 30 bucks.

An oil pan heater might be a PITA to install due to how close the diff is to the pan.

I'm sure interested in this thread as well. I have a 1994 4runner and need to install a heater into the block, where the freeze plug goes. Not sure where to buy, or which plug to knock out...

Ideas?

Mine runner has a Katz brand block heater from Napa, but I didn't install it so I don't know the specifics there. The PO left a receipt with me that says he paid 28 bucks for it in 2006. I've been using mine on a timer in the morning that last few weeks and it works great.

After starting a new thread I found this one. Any feedback from the contributors here? What kind of Katz was that? I haven't started looking for my freeze plugs again, but I know one of them can't be reached without pulling the engine.

Mine was also a NAPA one, 50 bucks or so (CAD). Went into one of the freeze plugs also. Works great, no complaints here!

I just got my KAT'S freeze plug heater in today and I'm trying to find out which freeze plug needs to be removed and the heater installed, can one of you with one that is already installed take a picture to enhance this thread for us? Thanks in advance
