UPDATED WITH DYNO PLOT

Spent most of the day trying to fix our dyno that someone messed up... stupid people.

Anyway. 94 4runner, manual, 31x10.50-15's and 4.55 gears. 5891 ft. above sea level. low 60's temps.

Stock engine. No modifications (base run for my next mods) maybe a bit of advance added.

I'm surprised. This engine has unknown miles that I bought for $100 and put new bearings in but that was it aside from the maintenance items.

May be a dog, but at least it looks pretty :lmao:

At the wheels of course... advertised rating is almost always at the crank. 112whp is the accurate one though. maybe I should just remove that bit.

Either way seems low.... at least I have another block to mess around with. Have all the machining stuff to deck, port hone whatever.

edit: forgot to mention I'm at a higher elevation as well. about 6000ft above sea level. If you wanted to do the math, it would come out somewhere around 136 at sea level. Doesn't matter too much to me, I have an ugly fast car for that

yeah true enough. didn't think about that. plus the elevation will make a difference.

If you check out K&N's site, where they dyno test to show the gains made by their systems, the 3VZE's stock rating is only 105 whp and 125 ft-lbs. No matter whose rating you take, that's not much for a 2-ton vehicle--no wonder it gets the "3.slow" reputation.

you know the best part is even my correction was wrong. printed the graph out today and it was actually 105whp 168wtq.

I'll update the first post with hard facts (a scan of my dyno sheet)

if I could find a working 22RE around here, I'd love to try it. haha.

well its better than my friends fj40 we rebuilt and installed what they call an RV cam. he has the 2F motor. 4.2l. made 100whp and 130wtq.

lol.. I know huh... i chuckle everytime i read the specs on the manual or online and see 180ftlb and 150hp as the toyota spec... we all know thats just not happening, but hey even at those ratings it would still be 3.slow
just enough power to keep going.. not quite enough to break itself...lol

It is slow... but not as bad as I expected it would be. You know, til you hit those hills and end up having a semi truck on your ass.

Nice baseline for me anyway. I'm planning on eliminating the crossover since it leaks and maybe run dual exhaust, or individual 2" tubing to a dual inlet single out muffler. something like that. Also just a nice simple intake tubing style. get rid of all those boxes.
