4.0 or 4.7 Engine?

For true off-road capability, is the full-time 4 wd system that is standard with the 4.7 engine as good as the 4 wd system in the 4.0? Which would you choose for both off-roading and overall daily driving? Is either engine more dependable than the other?Thanks.
