Isn't it the same for all the 4.0 motors in the Taco and 4Runner? If so, then check out URD.

The reason why the TRD wont go on a 4runner with the 1GR is the cylinder head design. the bolts and studs dont match.
Umm no it because toyota doesn't have a re-flash for the computer which is needed.
Look on youtube there's a 4th gen with one installed.

I would think they are the same in terms of the long block, with minor differences in external accessories. The oil filter mount on the Tacoma is different--there are radiator cooler lines that run through it.
If the head bolts are different, I would imagine you can replace them with the appropriate ones for S/C installation. I doubt they are in different location as it would make the block different, thus it wouldn't be the 1GR.
If I have time, I'll try and post pics of the 1GR in my Taco and 4Runner.
URD has had a s/c out for the 4.0 for almost 4 years now. Now what URD uses to tune is a piggy back computer made by a company called APR and they call it the x-1 controller. It works on the tacoma/fj cruiser because the connectors on the computer are the same. Nobody has used one on a 4runner because I think the computer connections are different. Also on the 09 and 2010 tacomas toyota changed the computers, so the x-1 will no longer work, but APR is working to fix that.
The x-1 has only been out little over a year now, and before URD used the split second fuel/timing controller (FTC) to tune for the addition of the s/c. They used the FTC on the 3.4 s/c upgrade kit, and I've had personal experience tuning one. This could be used on the 4th gen 4runners if someone wanted to supercharge their 4.0 using the TRD s/c.
Every 1GR is the same nothing is different between the tacoma/4runner/fj cruiser/tundra. The thing below the oil filter is an oil cooler which is part of the tow package on the tacomas. It can be added to any 1GR that didn't come with one.
Also the main reason why TRD never make the s/c available for the 4R and tundra was because you have the option to get the 4.7 in the 4R or the 4.7 or 5.7 in the tundra.
Now if toyota never would of offered the 4.7 in the 4th gen 4R you would've had the option for the s/c like the 3rd gen 4R's had.

I get 16ish which is basically what I got before I had the s/c. I have seen 19, but that was with lots of long distance driving. I live in hawaii, so I usually can't drive long enough to get anything better then 16 because where I drive consists of hills and traffic. My worst was 14 lol and my friends worse was 10 haha.

You guys need to search on this subject, it's been covered several times already. Nobody here actually has one cuz it seems like we don't have any money when it comes to the FJ/Taco guys. :moping:
The 1GR is the same across the whole truck lineup. Engine layouts are pretty much the same with the exception being the Taco differs the most with it's brake vacuum boost system and ABS module vs. the FJ/T4R electro-hydraulic boost/ABS setup. I've been under the hood of all three trucks, and an FJ with the TRD. You can tell the FJ is identical except for the mounting module behind the grill/headlamps. The supercharger kit also includes in the install the moving the coolant lines to clear the belt which someone was pointing out. Fitment wise, this will work us. Also, where has that ever been said that the head bolts and studs don't match?
The computer is the the same as the FJ/Taco. More specifically the FJ. I have gone over the connectors and wiring and they're all in the same place. The '09-'10 have changed so I can't speak for that.
So if you were to go out right now and get a TRD 'Charger, get the main unit and get the Fit Kit specified for the FJ. It will take a little creativity to make the intercooler work, but nothing a little ingenuity couldn't do. To take care of the engine tuning, I would highly recommend going with the APR X-1. Gadget, the brainchild beind this, has assured me personally that it will work. Only issue with the T4R will be that the kickpanel (pass side) will need a little trimming for it to fit properly in place as opposed to it in the Taco's and FJ's. This will yield an awesome combo, and alleviate going to the dealer for a flash and having a tech/service writer scratching their heads on what to do or refusing to do the job because it's 'out of the norm' or has no procedure.
So why hasn't the TRD S/C not been available for the T4R? $. As Ross pointed out, out of the three platforms, the T4R has a V8 option. So in Toyota's corporate world, why would they pay to test, tune, and certify (CARB anyone?) this kit for us?
