4:10 rear question

Did the 4:10 rear come as an open or posi type rear? The truck I am inquiring about is a 99 4 cylinder auto. The window sticker mentions 4:10 but nothing about "locking" anywhere.

Thanks,
Joe

The 3rd gen 4Runners came with either an open differential, or with the optional E-locker.

With an E-locker, the diff was open until the button to engage the locker was pushed, then it became a spool, (no differentiation at all) until it was unlocked and was open once again.

If there is a button to the left of the steering column that says 'Rear Diff Lock', then it has the factory E-locker.

Thanks.

I had a 91 6cyl SR5 that was stolen in 1992 and I figure it is still driving around in some third world country picking bananas with 500,000 miles on it and making good use of my E-LOCKER.:bash:

I couldn't remember where the button was on the dash and what the rear options were.
