Strangely enough, sales of the GX470 were actually slightly higher in April compared to last year (1,625 compared to 1,577 in April of '07). However, I guess when the number of sale days are taken into consideration it is calculated as a drop of minus 4.9%.

I also noticed the drop in 4Runner sales as well as many other mid-sized SUVs and Pickups.
Given the drop in sales of those vehicles and marked increases in sales of more fuel efficient vehicles it appears that fuel prices may be having an impact after all.

Here in Eastern Pennsylvania none of the Toyota dealer newspaper ads even mention the 4Runner.
I guess in this area this month there were no rebate offers or specials on 4Runners.
Those same Ads did have the Tundra and Sequoia models with the focus being on the smaller, fuel efficient, cars.

BTW, I also noticed that Toyota Announced Mid-Year Pricing on Certain Toyota and Lexus Vehicles. The 4Runner's price is being raised $400 (1.3%).

Well I'm part of the group that contributed to the numbers for April 08. I purchased a 08 SR5 V8 4x4 on April 17th. This replaced a 2004 Ford Ranger and a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I traded in both vehicles plus a couple of grand and drove away with a paid for 4Runner :biggrin2:

There's not really a surprise that Lexus sales are less affected by fuel prices is there? Richer people are going to be the last ones to care about gas prices.

I bought my 4 for tax purposes (the over 6,000lb GVWR break) because of it's better repair record and cost of repair VS the BMW X5 that I REALLY wanted to get.
I only wanted the Bimmer because I knew it would be less affected by the fuel price come resale time. But the cost of repairs and the snotty attitude of the 2 dealers I sat down with lead me back to Toyota.

Last I heard, sales of Honda's Civic/Fit, Nissans Versa/Sentra, and Toyota's Yaris/Corolla have been hot.

Anybody buy an econo/deathbox of late?

I've been very conservative with my gas consumption, and today's $86 fill-up shocked me.
