There are rumors that the Lexus GX 470 may get variable valve timing on the 4.7 V8 for 2005.

And now we have rumors that the Toyota Tundra will get variable valve timing on the 4.7 V8 and also get the 4.0 V6 to replace the 3.4 V6 for 2005.

See where I am going with this. If the Lexus GX 470 may get variable valve timing and the Toyota Tundra may get variable valve timing on the 4.7 V8, then what about the Toyota 4Runner with the V8. I mean we are talking about the same engine right. Of course that also brings up the Sequoia or the LX 470. There are no rumors for variable valve timing on those yet.

If you hear any thing, please post it here.

Premium fuel required?

Might not matter to a Lexus (or Landcruiser) owner, but for a pickup (average) owner it's usually a bad idea (for example except for the Ram Hemi no other pickups have that requirement).

I think its a bad idea. Toyota's money would be better spent on a bigger more competitive V-8 for its next gen Tundra, Sequoia, Landcruiser than trying to squeeze out a few more ponies from the 4.7.
