4.O Liter engine 10 4R and FJ

just curious, arent they supposedly the same? why the differerent engine covers?

I'd like to say they are about 80-90% the same. the bore size is sightly bigger at 4000cc rather then the old 1gr at something like 3986 I think. also I heard they change the intake side of the valves and change some things in the fuel map. APR will definitely have a harder time tuning this engine over the older version.

The 2010 FJ I drove when shopping around had the same cover.

Because that's a picture of the 2009 VVT-i FJ engine. See the oil filter on top?
2010 's FJ and 4Runner use the same dual VVT-i 4.0L engine and cover.
