I used a pull plow on mine once and it worked great. If you are now familiar with pull plows, they bolt on to your hitch receiver and you basically "pull" them to plow the snow. They are great for home use, but probably not something you would want to use commercially.
There are some big benefits to using pull plows:
It's easy to connect and disconnect them. Nothing to install on the vehicle itself like a conventional plow.
You don't put any wear and tear on your front suspension. The 4Runner almost seems to be made for a pull plow, with the high rear suspension, live axle, and full frame construction.
Pull plows are less expensive then a conventional plow set-up.
