4 Runner shaking at 40mph???

I have a 2006 4 Runner with about 45K miles and within the past day I've noticed that when I get close to 30-40 mph I will feel the truck shake (enough to know something may be wrong with the transmission) a bit and the shifter shake in my hand a bit. Had a bottle of water in the cup holder and it shook causing ripples in the water. After that it goes back to normal. It only happens when I get to that mph and not all the time but enough to know that isn't right. Has anyone has any similar issues or problems or have any idea what is causing this? Could there be some type of slippage or something? Doesn't that year 4 runner warranty against trasmission issues? Any help or feedback would be great. I'm a little concerned.

Thanks

I HAD that issue when my 2006 SR5 used to hit 65-70 mph. Steering wheel/truck used to vibrate and shake. At first I thought it was due to the wheels not being balanced properly. After not having driven it on the highway and at those speeds for a few months, the problem has gone away. Go figure... :p

I doubt you have a problem with the trans. If your vibration is directly related to road speed, it is either a wheel out of balance, or a driveshaft with a bad u-joint.

If it started happening all of a sudden, I would suspect one of the wheels lost a balance weight. Checking all four wheels for balance would be the 1st place I would start.
