I currently drive a 1978 Scout. I'm looking for a modern vehicle( the Scout's been a daily driver for 20 years).My options are 4 runner, fj, or tacoma. The 4 runner seems the most logical but I have a hard time not seeing it as a "Mom's car". If I get one, I'll probably lift it some or else rhino line the exterior. What say you?

I mainly see girls driving 3rd gens, but that means girls are attracted to 3rd gens. And with a lift and bigger tires, it's a ladies magnet.

Agreed to both. I drive a 3rd gen and you can see what I've done to it in my signature. Never once has it looked girly or anyone said it did. If you are worried how your vehicle makes you look, you should hit the gym. Plenty of girls drive FJs, including my wife, Jeeps- Wrangler and Cherokee, and about any other SUV out there. About the only vehicle totally for females is a minivan.

Where I live you literally can't drive more than 1/2 mile on any main street without seeing 2 4th gens, a 3rd gen or two, and a 5th gen. And 95% of those are factory with about 83% being driven by women. (These numbers are all purely scientific by the way, and arrived at after much testing and data tracking). I don't think the 4Runners necessarily look girly, but a lot of women drive them.
That's one of the main reasons I wanted to mod my 4R in the beginning. Hell I bought it from a middle aged woman. After I got started I found need for more mods (thanks a lot t4r.org) and things moved more towards purpose built...
But I digress... the quickest way to make it more manly/rugged is to throw a level kit and some semi aggressive ATs on there.
Check the 5th gen sub forum here, there are some beautiful, and manly, trucks in there. In a day or two, the 5th gen T4R of the Month (February T4RotM) contest will begin and you will certainly see some fine examples there.

IMO the 5th gens look awkward with factory tires. The tires are too small for the wheel wells - that's why I say it looks like a "hippo on roller skates."
With a little bit of lift and a moderately aggressive tires, 5th gens look awesome, though.
I agree that the 4th and 5th gens, in particular, are very much 'soccer mom' vehicles, but it doesn't take much to transform them. Pull off the runnning boards, put on a small lift and some decent tires and if you really want a non-soccer mom look, get rid of the factory alloys for some black FJC steelies:

I bought my Runner to get in touch with my feminine side. 
Actually, my g/f has a 95 Runner that is what started it all. It's a monster that was modded by living in the southeast for several years. Miami locals cut the cat off (that was never replaced), so it sounds like a beast. It went through several floods and hurricanes, with scars to prove it. I figured if a Runner can survive that, it can handle my girly needs.
When I see a Runner, I think "that's a nice vehicle". If a woman is driving, then I think "that woman has good taste in vehicles".

I have to agree with a SR5 looking "girly" as my 2011 SR5 was called a "Dadwagon". Soooooo I replaced it with a 2012 Trail Edition....the blacked out look with less chrome was the way to go. On a side note, who cares what other people think, i actually upgraded because it would be easier to mod the TE over the SR5.

I own a 3rd gen. I am 6 ft 3 , 225 lbs. I don't worry too much about being called girlie.
