41.5" LED light bar mounted on stock roof rack

Heres what I've come up with so far.






Bracket i made from 1/8" angle steel





The bar doesn't fit between the brackets, I need to bolt a piece of 1/8" flat steel to the outsides to widen the area between the brackets, 1/4-1/2" should do it. I need to finish mocking up the bar first though. i''ll be putting the caps on over the angle and trimming a little off them, you wont be able to see

I'm pretty sure if that was blow he'd been done with it and have about 4 more done.... more posts about it too. Yup, my money's on angel dust or sweet lady H.

I broke my right hand, so everything took way longer than it should have.

I had to drill out some of the stuff under the caps to get the draw bolts to slide in

or blow.

No idea, i haven't driven with it yet. I'd imagine not much. It's 1" tall x 1/8" angle, it's very rigid.

I'm hoping the wind noise won't be bad, but i'll make a fairing if it is.

I wish I had more time to work on it, i doubt it'll be done this week. out:
I have fall break coming up and so much work due before then...

But i'll be doing my best. Going to pick up some more steel today while I'm out, taking it to the engineering school to use their drill press which would save me the trouble of trying to hand drill it again. I'm hoping the extra 1/4" in enough. I may add like a "spacer" but the more i push the brackets out the more chance of vibration and shaking. I'll be thread locker-ing the bolts in the roof rack once its all set up, lock washers, etc.

What did you try? I really think the angle should provide enough support side to side. If it doesn't I'll bump up to 1/4"

lol, fair enough, i should rephrase, i don't want a rack right now, if i ever get one it will be that work of art by [MENTION=77764]Whitson Metalworks[/MENTION], but hopefully i can make this bracket happen

Drop the driver side under dash.
On the bottom left of the fuse box you will see a red wire with a yellow trace. That is 12volt trigger for reverse light. It's in a 16 pin plug.

Several ways to do it. Get a double pole double throw relay
30 is power source
86 is 12 volt coming from reverse
87 is going out to the lights
85 is ground

That will give you a power source to rub the lights.

Now here is the fun stuff.
How to turn on with out turning on the reverse lights and back feeding power to the transmission! And possiblely messing up the trans?

Simple, two 3 amp does you buy from radio Shack. Yes that simple.

Here is a quick diagram i drew up using the diodes. Make sure the band on the diode is in the correct side. the band prevents power from flowing back into the other side back up into the reverse circiut in the car. Its simple once you grasp the concept of what a diode does. cool thing is if you flip the diodes around and use it in a negative circuit it will block ground from flowing back!
