4300 for lower contol arms

wow... a shop i somewhat trust...that has treated me fairly...my sons Tacoma...my grandsons subie...just quoted me 4300 to replace lower control arms and lbjs and alignment....using moog. cause cams are frozen...duh.. wow. im in a time cruch b4 winter{ alaska}...but its now not my daily driver....so I willl buy more tires if needed and wait till spring till I can do it myself with oem and my 20 ton press.
what are they smoking...3k in labor...maybe they dont want to do it...i told them cams were frozen. lower lbjs have less than 10k...oem

Friend needs timing chain service on Camry 4 banger $3500 Indy shop have waiting list for repairs.
Shops my area gouging folks bad because they know people are in a bind.

Insane. I had 62 suspension parts (everything) replaced - plus a trans removed and new one installed all for $1400 in austin 2 summers ago.

It can't be that different in labor between here and there...

nearly 3 of that was labor...if I wanted the full suspension rebuilt, like you did, prob cheaper to ship my car to austin and back. i will just do it all myself.

I remember seeing your post in one of the facebook groups. That's nuts. Order the parts and do the work yourself is my suggestion. Timmy The Toolman on YouTube has great videos on how to do this stuff. I'm about to do my LBJs again along with my front diff swap.

I just did the UCA's and LCA's including inner/outer tie rods and ball joints. My adjusting bolts on the passenger side were frozen. I had to cut them out with a sawzall. Pain in the azz doing it on your back from a creeper but I got it done and I'm 61. I'll be damned if I am going to pay someone those kind of prices to do something that is frankly easy especially seeing as how they have a lift to work from. Cutting those LCA's out on a lift would have been a piece of cake and taken maybe 10 min. Now I am waiting for the new transmission to be shipped from Yota1 so I can put this beast all back together.

That certainly sounds like a 'go away' quote. They just really don't want to mess with it.

I replaced both LCA's on mine a few years ago. No issues on the driver side, but on the passenger side, the bolts were STUCK. I tried all sorts of things, finally resorted to a sawzall with a metal cutting blade, sliced the bolt on both sides of the bushing. Just keep spritzing it with lube so it's not binding up as much.

In my case, I got new OEM LCA's, they come with bushings installed, and it's not really a huge amount more than OEM bushings alone, and you can just take the old off and put the new on without switching gears and wrestling around with removing and replacing bushings.

yep will end up doing my self sometime during the next few months. Work full time, doing a remodel that I need to get done b4 snow hits....any time..., 71 years old so I go a little slow now
