4300K or 6000K HIDs?

Hey everybody,
I am really struggling with which color temp HIDs to purchase from xenondepot, 4300K or 6000K. I'm going to be installing them in the stock '05 REFLECTOR HOUSINGS, (I know there will be glare so I might paint them black). I want them to have a hint of blue when looking at them, which makes me lean towards 6000K, but i dont want to lose 20% of the light output, which makes me lean back towards 4300K.
Was anyone who bought the 6000K kit dissatisfied with its light output? And vice versa, has anyone gotten the 4300K, been left wanting a crisper light?
Along similar lines... is the light output form the 4300 a crisp white, or is there still a slight warm, yellowish tint? and is the light output from 6000K still alot?
I CANT MAKE UP MY MIND! If anyone has an opinion, or even better, pictures of the different temps in RELECTOR HOUSINGS, I would love to hear from you!

i just installed these today

i just got the lights in today and installed them took 2o minutes. I ordered from
cqlight.ca
i wanted to get the 6500K but ended up with the 8oook ones.. THey look great even during the day. i took a pic with my treo 650 so its not that great but you can get an idea.
IMO I dont think you should be worried about the 20%

with the fog light, Where did you get the piaa plasmas for your fogs? i want to add that look to my runner.

Thanks for the pictures... and i got the piaa plasmas off of ebay... i like them a lot. They are really bright and really yellow, and a good cheap version of 3000K HID. I think you can get a better deal than i did thouhg... i think PIAA is really overpriced.

For weeks, I have also been wavering on which kit to order and, like you, have continuously gone back and forth. It's driven me crazy, it really has.

After a whole lot of thinking, I have decided to get the 6000k HID kit from Xenon Depot. I have reviewed all the pics that I could find on this site, I have looked at the Club Lexus forum pics, and yeah, 6000k it is. Plus, I thought back to the Infiniti G35 I had a few years back. That car came stock with HIDs and I loved the color/look when the lights were first fired up. After a while, the bluish white color warmed up to a more yellow tint - well, still white but it had lost that bluish tinge and was heading toward yellow. So, that sealed it for me.

I still think that the 6000k color will give off plenty of light, way more than stock halogens. The reviews of the 6000k have all been positive, so that's the way I'm going.

Coolpop, dont forget to update on your HIDs from XD ! I too am undecided betw 4300 and 6000k but either way XD charges way too much

OK, after much research, I agree - Xenon Depot is a bit pricey.

Yesterday (12/1) I was in a Costco parking lot in Jax and saw a GMC Yukon with the exact color HIDs that I wanted - almost an iceberg / diamond bluish white, very very classy looking, almost like moonlight color. I pulled up to the guy and waited for him to get out. Very cool dude, talked to me for a couple of minutes about the lights.

Well, they were 8000k kit he got from ebay. He couldn't remember the manufacturer but he got em for $180, plug and play, he told me it took him 20 minutes to install.

I asked him if the 8000k gave off enough light at night and he looked at me like I was from another planet, then laughed and said um..yeah..they are HIDs.

In any event, I am now researching ebay and have found a few seemingly decent 8000k kits in that price range. Based on the way those lights looked, yeah, I think I want 8000.

I tried to post the individual link but it kept coming up error. The kit I am looking at is about 3/4 down the page, with "HID" in big bluish letters. The pics there show the 8000k color.

A couple of other alternatives to xenon depot for about $200

One thing you have to remember though is the more "K - Kelvin" the bulb puts out, the less usable light output it has, not sure if i said that correctly but basically a 4300K kit would be more useful than a 8000k kit in the dead of the woods but if its the color you are going for then by all means.

Also with the Yukon, did it have projectors ? if not, the same kit will probably appear differently in our 06/07 projector housings

FYI, Costco.com sells PIAA bulbs. I found that out a few weeks back and thought that was pretty cool of them.

Just a heads up for you guys who haven't bought HIDs yet... if you choose to go with a generic HID supplier from Ebay or elsewhere, be sure to confirm exactly what parts are being included in the kit. You want parts that are commonly used in factory cars because those will last the longest and perform the best (Phillips, Denso, etc.). You also want a wiring harness that is safe for your vehicle, including fuses in the right places.

After nickel and diming with modifications on prior vehicles, I've learned it's better to spend the money on high-quality parts the first time. Otherwise, you'll end up spending more later, and could potentially spend more than what the good stuff costed to begin with.

holy hell those are bright!!

with all that wiring shown thats included i dont see how it could be done in 20 minutes?

also if i did this on my 3rd gen would there be a glare issue or an aiming issue?

Personally, while they are really great products... i think PIAA is extremely overpriced. My Plasma Ion lights (the yellow ones were around 75 and my 8000K spark ones were 88. good i guess, but deffinately not worth that much. It would be nice to get them on sale, but thats antoher thing... PIAA products are never on sale! (except the wiper blades Burtman has)
