45k service: How much did you pay?

I have close to 40k on my truck and my 45k service is coming closer and closer, so I've started saving.

How much did you guys pay for service? I saw a local stealer with 30, 90, and 120k services at $199.95. This brought a brief sigh of relief, followed by a "wait... What about the 45k service....?". For some reason I think it's gonna be a lot more than $199.95. :moping:

I know I can call dealers in the area, and I plan on it, but I'm curious whether it's a flat price or if some of you managed to snag some good deals.

Replace engine oil and oil filter1

• Rotate tires (except MR2 Spyder)
• Clean cabin air filter (Camry)
• Tighten drive shaft bolt (Corolla and Corolla Matrix)
• Visually inspect brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs
• Inspect the following:

__ Ball joints and dust covers
__ Brake lines and hoses
__ Drive shaft boots
__ Engine coolant3
__ Exhaust pipes and mountings

Note: Driving in heavy traffic, on dirt roads or in urban, dusty or desert areas may shorten
the life of the cabin air filter. Replacement may be needed if you notice reduced air flow
from the air conditioner and heater or if the windows fog easily when you use the "Fresh"
mode. Consult your dealer if any of these conditions occur.
Additional Maintenance Items for Special Operating Conditions2
Driving in desert or on dirt roads:

• Inspect engine air filter
• Tighten nuts and bolts on chassis
• Driving while towing:
• Replace rear differential oil4
• Replace transfer case oil4
• Tighten nuts and bolts on chassis

Alex, this is from Toyota, doesn't look you have to do alot. Even if a dealer charges ya $200, I wouldn't. Alot of money for a whole lot of nothing. I have a friend who used to work for Toyota (dealer) and told me these maintenance "inspections" were a joke. All they did was look at them, that's it. You are mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself. OR, take your rig to the dealer to get a oil change (so Toyota has a record on the maintenance of your rig........ I could care less about mine b/c I'm keeping mine until the end)

I've done all of this except the diff oils and such. I replaced my intake with a K&N so I have no filter to replace. FJones showed me how to make a filter out of a standard home AC filter (6 filters for $10. About 18 months of filters). I do routine oil changes. I hardly ever tow.

I feel inclined to have the service though because I'll be swapping my XREAS out for Bilsteins very soon and I want to make sure that my ball joints are safe. I also have a rattle on the right side when I go over moderate-decent bumps on the road that concerns me. Maybe something is just loose or I need new bushings? I'll find out when I put my lift in.
