I received my Blizzard white 4runner two weeks ago and love it. I have also a 2004 4 gen runner also. There are few things that I am dissapointed in the runner. The first has to be the HU. The radio sucks very badly. I mean it is not even enjoyable. I have the basic HU. Second has to be the way the steering wheel tilts. My 4gen had a small lever to the left that releases the wheel smoothly. My 5th has a lever under the steering wheel that has to pushed to be released and it is not smooth. 3rd is the gas milage. I have not done a scientific research but fill up more often in the 5th gen. The last thing is the trunk door. On the 4thgen you could slowly lower the door and the door shut automaticlly. This one has to be slammed. I am just picking but i think Toyota cut some corners. I have never been 09 4 runner and maybe these options were remover way before the 5th gen. With the transmission lag that my toyo shop says is to there. It makes you think, but i could be over reacting. The one thing i did like was the thrid row seats airbag. That was unexpected. Does anybody know what the shutoff point is for the new automatic windows? My wife hates them because we have three small kids. I still love the ride but there were a few things I wanted to get off my chest.

I think the lever for tilt/tel is nit-picking but I completely agree and share your dismay about the lift gate. My hope is that they wanted to add a power liftgate but could not get it right in time for launch so they didnt bother with spending resources on the soft close and we will see a power liftgate in the '11 Limited.

the 5th gen IMHO is much better than the 4th except for one thing,
the damn hood is so hard to close, has anyone figured this out yet? im actually in germany right now with my 5th gen under a cover back home talking to german engineers about the problem, no one can figure it out...

Had a 4TH gen.......Loved it ! Love the 5th MORE! GF has a 3rd Gen Limited .... great truck too

I think the stereo in my TE is great I am with you on the liftgate though.

My hood is really easy to close. Did your latch break or something?
Since I put my negatives out there. Here are some positives. The nice cushion/arm rest on the door. I like driving with my left arm propped up on the door. NICE. The very dim white led that beams down from the ceiling light consol. It is need when it is dark. It is a nice touch. Is there way to turn it off?? I do miss the two compartments in the glove.
