4H issues Maybe?

I randomly go into 4H just to make sure everything works a few times a month and what im noticing is that when i slow down and start to turn the vehicle is very hard to turn and very hard to accelerate, it's so bad sometimes that ill even stall out (5 speed), now my dad tells me that's because im not supposed to use 4wd on dry pavement but i feel its bs that it does that if its not wet. So is this normal or a concern?

Your dad is right. The older 4runners have the part time 4wd system on them not the AWD. You are binding up the drivetrain by driving on hard surfaces. The wheels need to be able to slip when you turn.

S**T thats not what i wanted to hear but i figured it was right, but i cant see that being that safe just to have it almost lock up if your trying to turn and you stall out on a main road. Thanks for the help.

Yeah there is a huge difference without the multi-mode 4wd. When you need the traction and control though, what you are describing is exactly what gets you that. It's good that you periodically activate it, just do it on straight aways.

Well you are absolutely correct, its not that safe, to use a standard 4wd system on dry pavement that is. To understand what people are saying you need to take a trip to the website howstuffworks and learn about traditional 4wd systems, then you will understand why what you are doing is bad for your truck.

i did thats why i posted the thread he wanted to make sure it wasnt the new 3rd we threw in, but i still argued with him, its only natural.
