4H overnight, or no?

Forgive me if this is a silly question but is it bad to leave my 08 4runner in 4H overnight in the freezing cold and snow?

I have never seen anyone have a problem with there 4wd system by leaving it in 4wd during cold weather. we leave ours in 4wd during elk hunting all the time.

I'd say that's "preferable". Even the best, quickest 4th gen t-case can be slow to transition especially in the cold. There's no limitations on speed or driving surface when in 4hi so why not park it that way? It'll be ready to go in the morning...

Nothing really drives my concern.... I heard rumors that if you leaving your parking brake on overnight in snow and cold weather it has the potential to stick, and obviously its a completely different situation but I didn't know if there was any harm.

No need to worry... you can leave it in 4Hi forever! The Torsen-type transfer case acts like AWD until you lock the center diff with the button to the left of the steering wheel... looks like a driveline with an "X" in it. As Chris points out, if it's that cold and snowy, it would be better to have it stuck in 4Hi than 2Hi if the actuator did freeze up.

When I lived in PA, my 3rd gen would frequently be in 4WD for weeks at a time due to the snow covered back-road hills I had to drive to get to/from work.

I agree with all of the other posters here - I have had mine in 4hi for a month straight now due to all the snow that we've had here.
