[4K] Successful AJT Designs Key Injection Fob Case Install / 5th Gen 4Runner

I bought AJT Designs 5th Gen 4Runner Key Injection Fob from Longo Toyota Parts in El Monte. Currently, AJT Design website, Amazon and Ebay only sells ones that does not have TRD logo but I found some TRD logo Key Fobs at the dealer.

It was patient, detailed install job because if I mess it up, it will cost me couple hundred dollars to fix the issue. I took my time and finally installed it without any issues. 10 minutes total. I have made Youtube Video regarding this install. Enjoy and it is so worth the money and effort because this key fob is high quality. Thank you.

Update: Bought some decals from tvdvinyldecals.
It a high quality decals for the AJT Designs Key Fob and one for the skid plate. I will post the video soon. Thanks.

Simply put the key looks awesome, I've been to a dealership to have some custom programming and to Discount Tire for a balance & rotation, all I here is "where did you get the key?" Yes it is a stupid waste of money but so worth it!!

I hate things in my pockets and there is little difference between OEM and AJT fob. Sorry for the upside down red side, I've flipped several times but no go.

Awesome! Looks like they have a 20% Black Friday sale that starts on the 23rd, so I'm gonna try to pick one up. I'm either thinking all black with blue bolts, or the Cavalry Blue w/ black hardware. I don't have a Calvary blue 4Runner but it looks fairly close to my Shoreline Blue color.

The AJT Design Key fob is little bit bigger but it is solid and feels nice everytime you use it.

It's hard to get the key fob with TRD logo on it. I found it on Longo Toyota.
I think the owner of AJT Designs does not sell TRD logo ones anymore.

I emailed him and he replied "No more TRD Logo" on Amazon, Ebay and his website.

Sucks.

Still shows on the web site with the TRD Logo.

Good thing I got mine. Maybe white wasn't the best color as it gets dirty but matches the 4runner.

A lot of people get nervous around the chip. It is pretty sturdy just don't go crazy on it and you will be fine.

For the chip, would it be better to heat the glue? Or cut around it and pry it out like the video?

I just used a razor and slowly cut around the plastic. I wouldn't trust heat on electronics without knowing how much it can take.

I got mine out in about 10 min.

I did get impatient in the end and when it looked close to coming out I shoved a flathead under the chip and it popped out. Guess I got lucky but looking at the chip its not like a computer chip where it can bend easy.

Don’t use the heat gun just in case it fries the chip. It’s easy to take the chip out. Just take time and peel around the chip with a sharp razor. =)

Just picked up another Cavalry Blue TRD one that's still on his site as a back up to mine. Mine has a small hairline crack on it and I want a TRD one if this ever breaks.

Good heads up on the no more TRD logo.

I'd skip the heat and just cut and then pry/sand it down the rest of the way.

I had more trouble getting the key itself loose honestly - put a nice gash in my finger lol.

My Cavalry Blue one just came in. Ordered it on Friday (Black Friday special) and it came yesterday. Took me like 15 minutes with a razor blade. Just be patient and take your time. Didn't use any heat or solvent.

It does so far but its only dust and minor dirt.

I can't say it wouldn't stain if the wrong stuff got it.

Finished mine last night from the Black Friday sale. Easy and love it. Just watch vids, be patient and take your time.
