4lo - 4hi - center diff engaging questions

I searched through forums for definitive answer but I'm not confident with what I found for my year and V8.

I have 2006 4runner V8 full-time 4wd. I just got it last week and it did not come with the manual :(

I'm trying to figure out what are the official instructions for engaging in to 4lo and also activating center differential lock. As well as disengaging from CDL and going from 4lo to 4hi.

Some say you should go in reverse and then drive.. some say you can disengage at speed and some say shift in to neutral.. depending on the gen, part-time/full-time, etc. I'm so confused. Please help!!

Between hi and lo - stopped, in neutral
CDL, no restrictions, but best results in motion, wheels straight. Should engage in a couple of second and turn off even quicker. If stubborn, trying different conditions can help; neutral, reverse, throttle, etc.
