4R limited Floatly Ride

I have a 4R limited and once I'm doing 55-70 mile and hour the ride is so floatly and all over the place I check the tires pressure and they are fine all around and I thought it might be the wind but thats not it anybody else find there ride to be the same? it's almost like the truck is riding on jello and once you hit highway speeds it's all over the place mind you I love the plush ride but on the highway it floats to much.

Yes, I have had the same issue with my 2010 SR5. Here is a thread that you may be interested in reading through. I have about 12k on mine now and the "float" feel has either gotten better or I have just gotten use to it.

Seems fine to me. Not as stiff as my 3rd Gen was, but thats to be expected.

Yea - probably so, but a little tire or suspension wear could have helped - who knows. Could have smacked a pothole and did an "on the fly" alignment adjustment.:lmao:

I put on some new tires yesterday (Nitto Grapplers) and boy the thing handles different, better i should say. I know the issue you speak of and i was experiencing it since day one but as i broke the 4R in it went away a bit. The alignment shop told me it was slightly off up front so maybe that played a part in it.

Thanks for the thread I thought it was just me I am suprised at toyota for not catching this problem! wonder what tires I could get to help this out I have the yokohama tires on mine

My limited now has 10k miles on it. I'm riding on the stock Bridgestone tires. Mine seems to ride and handle fine on the highway. This is, however, my 5th 4runner so perhaps I'm just used to how they ride at this point.

Mine is great, no float at all and seems very tight.

I remember mine would kinda float on the HWY too at those speeds. I don't think my alignment was perfect from the factory either which could possibly cause it. I think it floated a little less after the new tires, but it's completely gone now with the new suspension.

I have the Yokos and no float.

Did you put the Grapplers on stock wheels or?

What did you drive before? Since the other two cars in my garage are an Audi A6 and a Q5, both with S-Line packages, etc... it feels like I am floating when I drive the 4runner. It could just be that you are used to a very precise vehicle before this... The silly stock tires are true for every trim model. I would try new tires...

They are on Gauntlet 17s. There's a separate thread about it--I'm trying to get more pics from him, they look pretty good (they're on a black SR5)!

I was going to pm you about this (remembering our posts from several months back). Now you can see exactly how they look on the black truck, which looks good IMO! Sorry to the OP for getting off topic.

My 2011 Limited also has substantial floating at highway speeds primarily on groved concrete highways having parallel groves with the direction of the road. My dealer has yet to resolve the issue. There are numerous threads in this forum with similar performance symptoms. Many attribute it to the tires. I have the toyos, but my experience is much different than another post in this thread in that it is all over the place, call it float on concrete roads with the groved pavement. Have you driven yours on concrete highways that are groved. I think we need to organize and see if the conditions are similar. Thoughts!!!! Have you changed tire pressure to see if it makes a difference?
