That's what I've been working on for the last couple of weeks!Yes, they are JBL but not hardly top of the line JBL's . I am in the process of replacing them now.

The four 6 1/2" are the same are in the rear doors and lift gate. The 3 1/2" are in the dash and the 6x9's(one not in pics..hav'nt changed the other one or the 8 inch woofer yet)

The 6x9's in the front doors are woofers only and only get a low freq signal from the JBL amp, probably somewhere around 125mhz and lower. I hooked up a co-axial to it and it recieved no highs for the tweeter. At least with the JBL system. I replaced it with a MB Quart PVI 164 6 inch woofer with a custom bracket to go from a 6x9 to a 6 inch.

The fronts are a mid woofer/tweeter and have a crossover on the speaker. I put in a JL Audio 3.5 and it didn't have a crossover and didn't sound very good IMO. I replaced it yesterday with a Infinity Kappa with a crossover and it sound 100 times better. Had to make a custom bracket for it though.

I also bought 240 sq ft of edead sound deadener and some 4x6 deadening mats I'm putting in as I go. The doors sound like vault doors now.Seats, rest of the interior and tray coming out,to deaden hopefully this weekend.

It's in the repair manual.....
Same as any door panel I've ever seen.
Screws , plastic push pins and then it's hung on from the top edge.

The 5ths have 3 screws to remove then grab at the bottom and give a good yank......then lift up and in to get it off the top ledge.Disconnect wires and door lock releases.

Getting them off is easy. The hard part is putting them back on. These things are a pain in the butt to get started at the top ,especially the rear doors.
Tip.....put them on with the windows rolled down so you can see it catch on the upper edge.

I took my door panels off with no problem just a little muscle. Like harper said it is a PITA to put them back on. After struggling for a while I discovered that the top piece of the panel will come off. There are three clips that hold the window felt scraper thing!!!(sorry cant think of what it is called) insert a small screwdriver in the clip and mine came right off. Once that was off it easily went on with the window down. Put the top piece on first and then the rest of the door popped right back in to the clips. Much easier. I did scratch the inside of my door a little struggling with the whole door assembly in one piece. Hope this helps someone trying to put this back on?

Harper - Do you have any pics of where you put the sound deadening in your doors? I'm very interested.

harper, did you have trouble fitting the Infinity Kappas in the top dash?

What is with the strange situation with the 4 wires in the dash needing to go to two for the speaker?

I'm curious about the wiring myself. I have been considering doing the change as well. I'd love a detailed writeup on this. :D
