4R vs Trailblazer

Yesterday I had the fine enjoyment of driving a TrailBlazer. It was relatively new one , the difference in the solid feeling , compared to the 4R was just a joke . Noisy , rattles , loud motor ( very cold out though) spongy feel . Felt smaller inside than the 4R . I just got a feeling in my gut like I'm glad I don't have one of these. ( My mother does ) , but I never really drove it much to compare. It was used and close to same amount of milage but what a HUGE difference in the quality feel.

After that I took a cruise over to the Toyota lot ( right next door , who by the way bought the whole Chevy dealer next door just to tear everything down and expand their dealership.) but my dad didn't want to look at anything Toyota . He hates that I even drive one.

Sounds like 80 percent of the people around here. "Jap Crap" as it were. Has your dad ever owned a toyota, or does he just simply hate them?

Yes I have to admit, that if my dad knew I owned anything Japanese - let alone that I have worked there many times and have Japanese freinds - my dad would turn over in his grave, if he knew, because of what he saw during WW2 in the Pacific

But on the other hand, my wifes dad, who we lost last Christmas, also fought in SE Asia during WW2 and he owned several Toyota's over the years, so I guess you can never tell.

Cannot argue with the quality of the Toyota product. One of my hunting buddys has a Gen3 T4R with over 200,000 miles and it is rock solid, and nothing major has been replaced - but he keeps trying to break it, every season!

So we probably should not discuss politics etc here, but

since ALt4r raised this: Re the Middle East War...

I think that sometime in the next year, probably by the next prez election, there will be a major escallation in the middle east.

why?

because Iran is building a nuculear bomb and either the US or Israel will have to stop them. Which probably means a precision air attack.

Why?

Because if they get a nuculear device, they will use it on Israel, (they already said if they get one they will use it) or

If they get one, just by having it, it would completely destablize the region and the worlds OIL SUPPLY

The consequence of which: would be, that everyone world wide will be paying a lot more for fuel, gas, heating oil, jet fuel, oil, and all sorts of products that are based on hydrocarbon chemistry.

I personally think (regardless of why we are there and the truths/mis truths we were told originally) that the US and other countries having about 150,000 troops a few hundred miles from Tehran is a good thing, because it is keeping those crazies 'somewhat' under control.

I am NOT looking to start a fight with anyone. And I appologize up front if I ruffled anyones feathers.

Just watch the next 12 months. Iran will get a bomb and the whole place will destaiblize - just my opinion of what is going to happen. Gaz prices thru the roof, world wide. followed by the pricing of everything else we buy, wear, eat etc

Same here, dont start talkin about politics though. What i meant was, i dont think anyone is opposed to the end of a war.

My Dad is a cool guy , he's just old school, ( now you know where I get it from ...lol ) , but I'm a little more open since were comparing a 70 y/o to a 45 y/o.

I've honestly never got heat from anyone for owning a Toyota / foreign vehicle ( this is my first one )

Not only their vehicle pretty much everything you use day to day. No offense to anyone, but a war is a stupid thing to hold against a race of people. Sometimes wars are started by key people or groups, you would be ignorant to think that all people of that race behave that way. Just shows how psychologically damaging wars can be.

As for the trailblazer, i was surprised at how small the interior was as well. It did have some rattling as well like you said. (believe it or not my 4runner doesnt have that dashboard rattle a lot of you guys/gals have)

I picked up my 4runner 2 weeks ago. Coincidentally, I rented a Trailblazer to drive 5 hours south of me to pick up my new car (dropped the rental off at the airport).

Actually, I thought the Trailblazer was pretty nice! I didn't find it small or uncomfortable.

I still like my 4runner better!

Actually, yes, I always carry my tow strap (at least one of them) and my hitch shackle just for such an occasion!

There's a funny story that goes with that picture...

We were headed UP the mountain when he wanted me to take the lead. He was worried that if he couldn't make it up, I wouldn't be able to pull him because I was behind him.

The trail was only wide enough for one vehicle, so he found a spot to pull off and let me pass on a relatively level section before it became a steep uphill. The funny thing is where he pulled off is actually downhill, although it doesn't look that way in the picture. Right in front of him was a big pile of rocks covered with snow, so he had no choice but to back out, which is what he was doing in the picture. I thought for sure he was gonna get stuck trying to back out, but he made it without any real problem.

My tow strap and tree strap (I think its called , about 6 feet long as closed looped at each end) I need to get a hitch shackle . I know Warn has one , which do you have ? The Farm store here has a nice one but its also $50 like the Warn.

I honestly don't remember if my hitch shackle is a Warn or not. I got it from a Jeep Internet site and it seemed like a high quality piece at a good price.

Falls, you should really get yourself a longer strap. A 6 foot strap is really much too short for most situations. My main strap is either 20 or 25 feet (again, I don't remember for sure) which is probably the shortest strap you should have. Six feet just doesn't leave nearly enough clearance between vehicles.

That tree saver thing is like 6' closed loop , the 2nd regular 1 I carry with the hooks on it is probably a 25-30 footer. ( 2 different ones )

What did you shackle cost you ?
