You must have a very early production year '04. I have an '04 with no dipstick.

As per Toyota information 2003-2004 unsealed (4 speed). 2005-2009 sealed (5 speed). Mid cycle Seqouia refresh, carried the tranny over to all its suvs tacoma, tundra, runner and of course the sequoia

As per Toyota information 2003-2005 unsealed (4 speed). 2006-2009 sealed (5 speed). Mid cycle refresh, maybe some older unsealed which were weaker than the sealed 5 speed, were replaced with the stronger 5 speed? My guess.

4 speeds are unsealed, 5 speeds sealed. I was wrong for 2005, first year of the sealed. Seqouia, tundra, tacoma and runner.

'04 Sport Edition V8 4x4 - 5Spd Sealed. Maybe there was some kind of engine/drivetrain configuration that dictated who got which transmission.

In 2004 the V6s got the 4spd and the V8s got the 5spd.
