Haven't posted in awhile. Not much to update except that I've gotten a new job, gonna be a lot happier in life I think. One of the coolest parts is that I have a bunch of days off between jobs so I'll be working on things...

My uncle is coming to my house during that time so we can rebuild his front suspension on his 1986 pickup. It is TIRED at 387,000 miles. Gonna be rad though...

New upper/lower control arms, all ball joints, sway bar bushings, CV axles, front diff change to a 4.88, rear diff change to a 4.88 with a TruTrac limited slip (thanks Zuk!) and new wheels and tires. It's going to be a fun marathon of upgrades and maintenance for him.

Just finished a WONDERFUL (but long) day trip to the Mattley Ridge area. Holy friggin moly. Thanks to [MENTION=142877]Folsom4Rnr[/MENTION] for sparking the idea. Another thanks to [MENTION=173212]dietsoap[/MENTION] for still wanting to make it happen. Super cool meeting you and your family man. And the dude has a TANK of a sequoia. Sqeeeeeeezing it through some tight spots like a boss. And of course thanks to [MENTION=421848]Avidflyer[/MENTION] for bringing the beast out of the cave for some fun.

14 hrs, 350 miles. Had a couple back tracking moments but we completed what I mapped to be about a 15 mile loop

About 8,000 feet at the top. And one spot had to have had an 18% grade. STEEEEEP. But fun as hell.

Time for a Budweiser.

Been quite a while since I've posted. Had a couple crazy ass months in there: Disneyland trip with wife and 2 1/2 year old daughter which was awesome. Got back from that and then I helped my uncle rebuild his 87 Toyota pickup: 4.88 regeared and TruTrac'd rear diff, junkyard front diff to match 4.88, upper control arms, lower control arms, all 4 ball joints, upper spacers on ball joints, front CV axles, brake lines, steering gear box, steering idler arm, sway bar links/bushings, front shocks, junkyard steering coupler, all related fluids, new tires/wheels, alignment.... All done in 2 days and prepared across 3 states and 3 weeks prior to my uncles arrival. Uncle drove it here from Nevada. Zuk rebuilt an eBay rear diff in Arizona and sent it back to me. Insane. But it's a new truck now. And he's super juiced.

Then I started a new job that following week. So far it's alright.

Haven't done much to the 4Reak recently. Planning out some things like 1st generation roll bar, maybe storage drawers, extra gas tank. Hit the junkyard and scored some minors.

My cruise buttons are totally blank. Worn off. These were just shy of totally perfect. And housed in grey.

Back window switch is from a 3rd gen. Planning on mounting it near tailgate so I can roll the glass down from inside when sleeping in it. I'll post pics whenever I get around to it.

For Christmas I'm gonna get a new steering wheel cover from wheelskins. That's gonna be badass.

So I got antsy and hooked up the Ultimate Camping mod by adding the constant power back window switch. I just tapped into the same wires that runs the tailgate key switch. Easy enough. Ran wires up the D pillar and around to the center finish trim. Little chop chop and it slid right in.

Now I can roll the back window up and down any time I want from the inside. Beats having to lean over, turn on ignition and then run switch from center console.

It's a great area. Dozens of trails and places to explore. So if you ever wanna go again and we can arrange, I'd be down to go back.

Bucket listed Strawberry Pass today. It has some gnarly spots. The 4Reak got hung up a few times, tapped the skid plate, slid on a slider but came out on the other side. Great over nighter and day trip. 8500 elevation according to Gaia.

I call it The Reset: following an offroad trip I unpack everything, wash the outside and vacuum the inside. Then I fix anything that needs fixing. Since my average is about one trip every 6 weeks I don't like it sitting dirty in my garage. So I got to the reset after a week of craziness.

Repainted the slider that took some abuse, and pulled front skid plate to repaint.

I just wiped it down with rubbing alcohol and sprayed it a few times with rattle can. I don't see the need to make it totally perfect just yet. Turned out fine. Has a good little scar on it. Strawberry took its toll.

It's about winter time so coming up is going to be a big maintenance job. Oil change, clean K&N filter, change manual trans fluid to redline, change diff fluids, grease everything and full inspection for any other damage this season has brought. I did a lot of trail time. Most active year so far:

4/13: Poker flat (didn't finish, snowed out)
5/4: Hollister SVRA (Total joke of a place, and brake booster failed on the drive there)
6/15: Mormon Emmigrant (didn't finish, snowed out)
7/27: Poker Flat (Finished!)
9/3: Disneyland (in our 5th gen)
8/31: Mattley Meadow
11/9: Strawberry pass

I have a jump start kit under the front seat of my 94. Pulled it out to give someone a jump last year. It had been there for over a year and was still at 75% charge. They are a life saver

That's awesome. I carry jumper cables also but my purpose for this is a bit more selfish... I don't go out a lot alone, but it does happen, and will happen more. Well in that situation, jumper cables do you zero good. It's cheap and easy piece of mind. And it has USB ports for phone/device charging.

I also put a leather Wheelskin on my 100 Series wheel. Super nice product for the money!

Yeah it's crazy how much power is in those little battery packs. Pretty good peace of mind for cheap in a small package!

Funny you mentioned wheelskins... My mom is always looking for Christmas ideas for me so I told her what I wanted. She came through. I'm pretty excited to install it.
