4Runner 5th Gen Whimpy Horn

We have a wonderful 2010 4Runner in Blizzard Pearl White. I am embarrased to honk the horn because it is so whimpy for such a masculine vehicle. Does anyone know where to find a "real" horn. Something like a diesel locomotive horn would be cool, don't you think!

One option would be Hella supertones. They will get you noticed, startle whomever you hold the horn on, and also get you the middle finger.

I love mine!
 
I wonder if this is common?

I'll be sure to check mine out next time I see someone I know on the street.

This is good preventative maintenance for the horn bearings. Just don't perform this task on dry pavement during sharp turns, or you risk damaging the horn shaft. Keep in mind this process is only necessary on the SR5 and TE models, though, since the Limited has center horn differential which allows full time horn use.

Just be careful not to over-do it...you could bend the finnegan pin. Oh and dont forget to keep an eye on the flux capacitor!
 
I wrote on my Toyota survey I hope the guy that put a corolla horn on this truck gets fired. My friend just bought an 11 Tacoma, will check to see if they are interchangeable, the Tacoma's horn sound loud and fat not wimpy like the 4runner. I heard the Hella Supertones dual, it is loud but it is still (to my taste) on the 4 cylinder small car kind of sound (eeeeeeee).

Been discussed before.....It's actually the same horn they had in the 1st,2nd and 3rd Generation 4Runners.
Probably was in the corolla's too!
Toyota's idea of going back to their roots for the horns in the 4Runners = meep,meep ......... FAIL
I put a 26 inch Hadley big rig air horn plus 2 Fiamm El Grandes on mine!

lmao. thats good. I actually wrote on my survey that there must have been some sort of mix up with my truck at the plant regarding my horn. Something along the lines of "My 5th gen 4R horn sounds like my 3 year old sons Ride-a-long truck horn. Was it "bring your kid to work" day or something the day my horn was installed?"

Good thing we have manuals! I just finally received the updated version of the Chilton's manual for 5th Gen horns as a Birthday gift, which now recommends giving our delicate horns a warm up honk each time you get in your car.
